Ash is blasted around from the charred front of this amazing Tsubo by Harada Togetsu enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Potent green Iga-Oribe vase by noted master Japanese potter; Kishimoto Kennin (1934-). This roughly faceted mentori vase has varying hues of green and an overall iridescence across the body. Though Iga-Oribe, the clay body is actually wonderful Shigaraki clay with a healthy amount of feldspar inclusions.

Robust, large Shino vase of round form with areas of poured underglaze iron slip creating areas of Aka-Shino (iron red) and Muji-Shino (white)across the piece. This vase was made by the well respected and exhibited Kato Shuntei (1927-1995) who was a true Mino traditional potter.

Another Radical piece by Hayashi Shotaro, this dramatic tsubo is thinly veiled in a crystalline feldspathic glaze, the violent eruptions peeling away from the surface catching and pooling the glaze to spectacular effect. Very rare example of museum-quality Shigaragki-ware by Tsujimura Shiro. It was originally given as a gift from the artist to a secret, wealthy benefactor upon the Grand Opening of the famed Miho Museum near Kyoto, Japan, in 1997.

Mystical heads adorn the four corners of this Persian-blue glazed open vase by Living National Treasure Kato Takuo enclosed in the original signed wooden box. An unusual vase with rough, pebble textured pink glaze over scratched in cranes by one of Japans most important post-war artists, Shinkai Kanzan, enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The shape and the design are exactly what we would expect from Kanzan, the coloring going even a step beyond. The texture is like unpolished jewels, the inside of a geode; very pleasing to the hands. The vase is 20.5 cm (8 inches) tall, 18 cm (7inches) diameter and in prefect condition.

Clusters cling to the bottom of this heavily encrusted small bottle scorched black and off kilter which must have become lost in the embers by Osako Mikio enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Ko-tsubo. Evocative blue decorated henko bottle vase with fluid brush decoration and sgrafitto decoration prominently signed; SEIRAN. The cobalt decoration sits on an almost ash style glaze with spots of blushed areas, similar to Hagi pottery. I have not been able to find out anything about the potter, but the brushwork and use of space suggests a full time potter, used to working in this particular style.

This henko is in perfect condition with its original signed box and measures 8" X 8.5" x 6".
