An exquisite faceted Bizen vessel by Ningen Kokuho Isezaki Jun enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Bizen Kuro Ana-kuri Hanaike (Formnig Holes Black Bizen Vase). The form has been gouged and cut, slabs torn off and odd holes sliced into the sides and top. The clay is dark covered in rivulets of flowing ash, which wrap around like many fingers. Fantastic Bizen Sangiri stoneware vase made by Jun Isezaki (b. 1936).

Sangiri is the Bizen technique when the vessel is partially buried in sand in the kiln. The exposed area turns blackish because the ashes that cover it retards oxidation.
Jun Isezaki was named a Living National Treasure in 2004.
