Takatsu Mio (b. 1976) was raised in Gifu prefecture among the scattered kilns of Mino. She graduated the Osaka University of Arts Sculpture Department in 1999, moving on to advanced studies which she completed in 2001. Her first exhibited works were in 1999, and then again in Tokyo in 2001...

Wow! Here is a radical piece from deep in the embers of Sugimoto Sadamitsu enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled simply Iga Hanaire. It is utterly simplistic in form with dramatic and complex kiln effect born from placement and the inferno. The vase is 26.5 cm (10-1/2 inches) tall, 12.5 cm (5 inches) diameter and in excellent condition.

Blue glaze fills in the embedded patterns in this Tokkuri by Living National Treasure Shimaoka Tatsuzo enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Gosu Zogan Jomon Tokkuri. The vibrant blue is a bit of a departure for this artist whose work is often sedate, relying on the texture and patterns of the Jomon rope design over dependence on colorful glazes. A spectacular Shino Chawan featuring clouds of red over fissured white by the important artist Hayashi Shotaro enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Manyo Shino Renzan Chawan. Shotaro has cupped and misshapen the bowl into five subtly flattened sides, with an undulating rim. The lower half a series of mountains in white, blue and russet iron in a brightly and beautiful morning surrounding the city of Toki, where the artist has been firing pottery for over 40 years. Shino ware tea bowl made in the legendary Suigetsugama kiln which was built by one of the greatest Japanese potters of all times, Toyozo Arakawa (1894-1985).
