A round form covered in fissured green celadon by Kishimoto Kennin enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Seiji Chawan and endorsed inside by Zen Priest Tachibana Daiki of Daitokuji Temple, home of the Tea Ceremony.  Profound, like an empty blue sky, the form floats lightly over the dark clay of the perfectly formed kodai base.  It is signed within that base ring by Kennin.

Two Guinomi sake cups and a Tokkuri by Kato Yasukage enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Shino Tokkuri/Guinomi, Nezumi Shino Guinomi.  The cups are cool, one in white glaze tinged red, the other in blue-gray glaze tinged with a reddish-blue.  They are beautifully uniform in a misshapen way, allowing no favoritism to the drinkers...

Fired in an anagama small-batch kiln, this other-worldly looking saké cup (guinomi) displays rich ochre hues in areas where the rough clay shows through and is covered in a lush Oribe green glaze which is difficult to achieve. The brilliant green color is the result of copper glaze applied to the clay body which is then fired at 1220 degrees C—creating an oxidation reaction...

Five porcelain tea cups by Kato Tsubusa enclosed in the original compartmentalized and signed wooden box titled Seihakuji Senchawan outside, and inside Seihakuji Chawan. Ash and color abound in the clefts and plateaus of this spectacular large bucket shaped vessel by Tamba legend Nishihata Tadashi enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Hai-yu Oke-gata Hana-ire.  Raw clay slashed with dark shadows.  Opposite rivulets of green drip down the torn and scarred faceted sides, the occasional impressions of a waffle-faced mallet adding a sense of drama and spontaneity to the random order of kiln-nature.  This is a top quality work by this highly sought art...
