This piece was fired in "Anagama" small kiln with red pine fire woods for 10 days and 2 times. Ancient Shigaraki works was made of clay that was consisted weathered granite, it has very high fire resistance, 1300 Celsius degrees. Ashes of red pine tree turned to green glass ,it is called "bi-doro" at high temperature, and fierce fire made spectacle scene on the surface. Large, totemic Shigaraki vase by veteran master craftsman, Tani Seiuemon I. This impressive and well fired Shigaraki hanaire was thrown in two sections and joined to create the vase and foot of this pot made out of wonderful kinose clay from the region.

This vase measures 12.75" x 5" and is in perfect, original condition with tea cloth and original signed box.

Doubled, this would make a nice doll necklace. Signed sage green necklace made up of sparkly 20mm faceted Labradorite stones with flashes of blue and finished with hand wrought sterling silver.
