The vase has a standing crane holding its head and neck up on the front and a crane bending down in the back. The bottom has the Churoku mark. Neya Churoku, a student of Tsuda Shinobu, exhibited at many exhibitions including the 1933 World Exhibition in Chicago and the 15th Teiten (1934) where he won the Tokusen (grand prize). #1 measures 4.75" X 4.75" and has an over all repeat pattern resembling farm fields from an aerial view

#2 measures 4.5" X 5.25" and has two different impressed medallion designs used originally in medieval pottery

Rich Oribe influenced mizusashi with hakeme (hakame) and impressed design. In the firing, the glaze ran off the pot to form a dragonfly eye style drip. The drip makes the pot a bit uneven, but I could not bring myself to grind off the drip. The foot can easily be stabilized with the addition of two felt pads
