Very delicate 10K yellow gold pin set with a collet-set square-cut synthetic ruby. The linear design and the geometric shape of the stone show the beginnings of Art Deco influence. Similarly, the use of a synthetic stone is common in jewelry of the period. Even makers such as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpel used synthetics. Marked "10K".

A 14K Art Deco Art faceted carnelian pendant necklace with a 14K yellow gold chain circa 1930. This 2-1/4" long pin measures 3/8" across the bezel-set 16mm x 8mm. aquamarine, which weighs 4.7 carats and has a light grayish/greenish blue colour. This pin has applied flowers at the ends of the stone and a pierced lower gallery; it weighs 4.5 grams and it comes with a recent conservative independent appraisal for $1500...
