This whimsical fob is a sailor's hand-carved whale bone ivory fist, a common motif during the Victorian Period. The fob is comprised of a beautifully detailed hand with pointed index finger. The heart shaped base of the piece adds a touch of whimsy and romance. Possibly a 19th century Valentines Day gift? It is attached to an antique gold filled watch chain. Size: Fob-1 3/4". An exceptionally fine French 18K yellow gold ring in the form of a lion's head flanked by a pair of winged griffins that coil around the finger. The lion grasps a round blue sapphire it its jaws. A delightful mid-Victorian worked in shades of 14K rose and green gold. The small pendant/pin depicts a green gold frog against and engraved background of rose gold cattails and other marsh plants accented with green gold leaves. The overall design is really fun. The back of the pendant/pin is gold-filled, but is original. A folding bail has been added so the piece can be worn as a pendant or as a pin. Tested and guaranteed 14K.
