Fun and perfect for this summer - especially if you decide to stay away from beaches! - this mod sterling silver "fish with air bubble" necklace by Los Castillo comes out of the workshop's "onix negro" line of jewelry. I find this technique fascinating - it poses a big challenge to the lapidary's and silversmith's abilities as the onyx slab has to be carved out precisely to the dimensions of the sterling inlay that will be set in it...

A variation of Antonio's amethyst cluster necklaces that doesn't come up often, this modernist dream is wrought in Pineda's signature fine, .970 alloy and adorned with richly colored stones. The renowned Taxco designer plays with a-symmetry here as the necklace's focal point, the stylized amethyst floral cascade, reaches out from the back of the neck and unfolds itself on its right side instead of occupying the center front...

Spratling designed this pin in 1942 as part of a series of items depicting continental solidarity. The pin shows clasped hands superimposed over a gold gilded map of the western hemisphere. This pin was made in two sizes, this being the larger at 1 1/2" x 1 1/4". The fastener is a two pronged clip. Both pin and original fastener are in excellent condition. In 1942 Macy's Dept. Betty Cooke modernist sterling silver and wood kinetic brooch
1950
This exceptional and rare brooch measures 2 3/4" x 3"
Weight - 9.50 grams
We love Betty's simple and sophisticated elegance of design. That's what she's really known for. But we really love, especially in her early works, the way she made use of something whimsical or introduced unique elements like toothpicks or ebony from old piano keys.
This rare [I now this word is used a lot but it...
A fine, modernist sterling silver ring by the California studio jeweler, Gerald Stinn, (1937-2019).
Has an abstract three dimensional design on the front.
Measures about a size 7. Marked Stinn Sterling. In very nice condition. His pieces were sold to major museums and are on permanent display at the Smithsonian Museum in D.C.
Quality piece.
Interesting silver ring with a big red cabochon agate and some gold, made by Danish silversmith Ole W Jacobsen (workshop 1952 – 2002). The ring is hand hammered all around, the gold probably not under 14 K. An old “scar” to the stone, made by nature herself, has been left untouched to let the setting follow its shape. Signed OWJ and 925 S. Inner diameter "3/4 /15 mm. Condition: fine.
