Made in one of the countries of mainland South-east Asia which were, at the time, under French colonial control, this silver repousse brooch bespeaks the level of craftsmanship local silversmiths had attained and their attention to composition and design execution. Hand-crafted during the first decades of the 20th c., I believe, the brooch is characteristic of the style and techniques that flourished in that area of the world...

A Birks sterling marcasites brooch and earrings set from around 1930. This fine, vintage set was sold by Birks, Canada's leading retailer of fine goods. The brooch measures 2-3/8" x 1-5/8", it is laden with glinting graduated marcasites (or marquisites ), it has a safety catch, and it has a superb curled design with great appeal. The screwback earrings measure 7/8" x 3/4" and they have assorted sizes of marcasites and a floral style...

This fine vintage clip / brooch features a 3-dimensional rose in gf surrounded by a floral design of sterling silver and clear rhinestones. The brickwork mesh design (under the foliate accents) is topped by a bar with square-cut orange citrine stones. All stones on this piece are pave-set. The pin measures 2" long x 1 3/8" wide x 1/2" high. The back is marked dorsons (in script), 1/20 12K GF on appl. plate. This rare find is in excellent condition. This piece is made by D. This large brooch / pin measures 3" x 2 7/8" at highest and widest. It features a foliate branch motif with a flowerhead and applied bud in the middle. It is from the Late Arts and Crafts Era: circa 1940's. It weighs approximately 24 grams.

This great 3-piece set (parure, suite) has a modernist design, with leaves swirling into buds. The brooch is also a pendant. It measures 2 1/4" x 1 1/2". It is marked TAXCO HECHO EN MEXICO STERLING 925 Assay Mark 3 and V.A. (for the silversmith). The earrings are screwbacks and measure 1/2" x 1 1/4", marked TAXCO V.A., as well. This 3-piece set is in great condition and has a good heft.

This large, sterling silver, pendant is most unusual, c. 1960’s. It measures 2 5/8" x 1 7/8". It is a stylized scale, made of heavy gauge silver. Going along with the abstract motif, the large amber “drop” is more like an amorphous bulb of oranges, yellows, and reds, changing with the lighting. The "relics" housed by the amber are also visible. It is marked 925. It weighs just over 1 ounce / approximately 29 grams and is in excellent condition.

These sterling silver, screwback earrings are so cool. They are circa 1950's. They measure 1" x 3/8" x 1/4" deep. They feature a mod shape with a concave, oxidized background, with prong set, cultured pearls. One is marked STERLING J.S.C 925 (see pictures). I am still trying to figure out the silversmith's mark. They are solid and in great condition.

Modernist pin made up of little silver “icicles”, their brightness being heightened by carré cut rock crystals. Made in the 1960’s by Kordes & Lichtenfels in Pforzheim, Germany. Marked K&L and 835 for silver content. Importation mark for Sweden (three crowns in an oval and S). Width "1 ½ / c 4 cm. Safety clasp. Condition: fine.

This opulent and flashy 14-3/4" sterling silver and claw-set rhinestone necklace has a box clasp, it measures 1-3/4" deep at the central drop, and it weighs 38.1 grams. Taxco Mexican brooch or pin by Miguel Melendez. Pre-Columbian motif of a stylized bird’s head surrounded by a circle with azurite inlay. Fully marked, with maker’s mark (small m inside a C), eagle stamp and 3 = after 1948. Security clasp. Diameter "1½/ 3,8 cm. Condition: fine.

This great, large Taxco Mexico mod pendant / brooch measures 3" x 2 1/8". It has a cool geo shape with three dangles. It is sterling silver with inlaid azur-malachite: blues and greens. The back is signed with all hallmarks: STERLING TAXCO, AC, Cecilia in script, HECHO EN MEXICO, Tono in script and numbered 80. This lovely, colorful pendant and/or pin in excellent condition.

A chariote sterling pin signed Aidan Toronto. This fine studio .925 sterling silver 2-5/8 x 1-1/2" pendant pin features a Charoite stone. Charoite is a rare mineral found in Russia and introduced in 1978 (named for the Chara river). It has an unusual lavender purple swirl appearance and the silver mount accents this movement. This pin is signed AIDAN TORONTO HANDMADE SILVER 925, and it has a safety catch as well a loop for wear as a pendant and another loop for wear horizontally...

Dragon brooch in the Viking style, the fable animal copied from the superbly elegant 12th century wood carvings on the portal of Urnes stave church in Norway, now on the Unesco World Heritage list.
