It's been a while since I presented a piece by Gerardo Lopez but he is one of my favorite Taxco maestros, a talented silversmith and designer who excelled in the art of repoussage. I believe Lopez was at his best when he created pectoral necklaces and clamper bracelets and it is an exquisite example of the latter form that I am showing here...

Stunning Taxco modernist sterling silver pendant necklace this set seems to borrow stylistically from both Antonio Pineda (in its use of the black velvet cord) and the Los Ballesteros workshops (in featuring that huge gemstone). The signature it bears, however, attributes it to a listed yet still unidentified Mexican maestro whose work I have had before but about whom we don't really know that much...

One of Antonio Pineda's most spectacular bracelets and highly sought after by collectors is his "Spheres" bracelet. Also known as the Ball Bearing or Saturn design it's a book piece featured on page 52 in Silver Seductions and was also included in the Fowler museum exhibit. Measuring 7" long by 1" wide, it weighs a hefty 125.3 grams. Hallmarked with the Antonio Taxco Crown, 970, and the eagle 208. It is in good condition with no damage noted only slight wear and tarnish...

A substantial sterling silver chain composed of doubled rings, bars and beads with connecting links; there is a central ring for attaching a pendant, or the chain can be worn as is. The secure box clasp bears what appears to be the maker’s mark of Beto, as pictured in Bille Hougart’s Mexican silver marks book, third edition, p. 27. The eagle 22 is the most legible mark; the others are not entirely clear. The chain measures 27 ½ inches long, unclasped. Weight: 38 grams

An unusual pendant by the noted modernist jeweler, Paul Lobel. This pendant, made of sterling with an amber insert, can be worn on either side for 2 different looks. One side has an off center triangular cut out and the other side uses beveled prongs to hold the amber in place. You can see lots of marbling when it is held up to the light. Signed on the bottom, LOBEL, Sterling. Even the bale is curved differently on the front and back. Measures 1" across and 1 1/2" high including the bale...

A sterling silver modernist link bracelet consisting of five rectangular links, each with a distinct geometric overlay. Has oxidized areas for an interesting effect.

Measures 7 1/4" long and 3/4" at the widest. Marked Handwrought Sterling.

Hook closure holds securely. Has some tarnish and minor surface scratches.

Well executed design.

These wondrous bumble bees are a Margot de Taxco signed creation. She is known for her fantastic enamel work. The earring clamps work and are the thickest best working clampers I have put on. The enamel is PERFECT. These are a published design in the Penny Morrill books on the Mexican Silver Renaissance.

One-of-a-kind hand made crystal and sterling modernist signed ring by Catanzaro, c.1960's. She passed away last year. Signed "CATANZARO", the triangular-shaped crystal measures 7/8" by 3/4" by 7/8". The band is 3/4" wide and the ring is size is 8 3/4. Great looking and in excellent condition.....$10 for insured USA shipping.

A sterling silver modernist hand wrought cuff bracelet. Measures about 6" around with an additional 7/8" for the gap. Measures 2" at the widest. Marked Sterling and Hand Wrought. Very nice condition with some minor scratches and a little tarnish. Can be worn with the curve facing up or down. Warm patina, heavy layered sterling. Quality piece. Lays nicely on the wrist.

Unsigned and astonishing on. Tested for sterling and then some. The S swirls are repousse and large at 1.75in. long. The total weight is 81 grams heavy. The silver feels buttery soft and it has a dark natural patina that defines how wonderful this old work of art is. All hand made and follows a Patania Sr. feel when on. Because it is unmarked I have to put into a category to list. I believe it is either Old Mexican or an old Southwestern necklace. Just fabulous, LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!

Rare sterling silver cuff bracelet set with 2 obsidian stones designed and signed c. 1950's by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling. Front panel is 1 1/2" high. Inside measures 5 1/2" from end to end. The opening gap is 1 1/2" wide. Will fit up to a 7 inch wrist. Weighs 70 grams, 2.5 oz. Beautiful condition with no dents or dings. A modernist sterling silver necklace by noted artisan, Johannan Peter from the Israeli artist colony, Ein-Hod.

Two layers of sterling, the bottom has a lightly hammered texture. The top wires serve as embellishment and also as the link connectors.

Marked Made in Israel, ST, 925, 'PH'. Has a hook clasp which holds securely. Dark, warm patina. There is a minor repair to one of the connectors on the back that can't be seen from the front. Measures 16" long and 1 1/8" at the widest...

This ring design features a constructionist approach to the classic 1960s domed ring. Ridged protrusions overlay a grainy, textured surface. The band is separated for ease of sizing; it is quite thick, so probably would need professional adjustment. It is currently a size 7. Weight: 11.4 grams

Hand made sterling and whale ivory pin showing Eskimo catching a fish, Alaska, c.1960's. The detailed pin has an ivory face and fish. Of good size and weight, the piece measures 2 1/2" wide and long.
