A hand made large silver and glass Arts and Crafts pin brooch. This fine 2-5/8" pin has a trombone clasp and a hand hammered finish evocative of Arts & Crafts jewelry. It has a large cabochon glass stone which looks like natural agate stone and we think this pin predates 1920 but we aren't positive (however glass stones were used in earlier examples). It is unsigned and it tests as silver...
Modernist handmade necklace signed "SAM W. GRAVES STERLING", c.1950's. It combines an art deco and Native American feel in an interesting geometric chevron design. Not certain, but I believe that Sam Graves was a contemporary of Frank Patania and H. Fred Skaggs, working in the southwest. This hollow silver necklace shows a high degree of craftsmanship. There are 3 sections connected by a paper clip chain. The middle section measures 2 1/4" by 1". Each side section measures 1 7/8" by 3/4"...
A delightful Imperial Austrian silver brooch set with three reverse-carved Essex crystals by the Imperial jeweler Georg Adam Scheid. The domed pin is finely engraved in a basket-weave motif and is pierced by three Essex crystals, each depicting a lap dog, perhaps a Pekingese. The dogs are well carved and colored, with tiny blue bows under their chins. The crystals never had a mother-of-pearl backing like those produced in England and France...

One of the few female designers of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance that we know of, Bernice Goodspeed arrived in Mexico's capital in 1930, according to Bille Hougart. Even though she and her painter husband, Carl Pappe, identified as writers and artists primarily, they opened a shop in Taxco where they sold not only their books and artwork but also jewelry that Bernice herself designed...

Known for her bold modernist designs and her love for big, gem- and stone-studded bracelets Carmen Beckmann was equally creative when allowing the Spanish Colonial tradition to influence her work. Everything else, however, from the oversized ...

Composed of geometrical open panels, this sterling silver bracelet is studded with tiny pieces of marcasite. It features a secure tongue and groove clasp and a sterling safety chain. There are seven marcasites missing, but it’s hard to tell without magnification because they are so small. The back of the clasp is marked sterling; there is also a sterling mark on the back of one panel along with a partial, unidentified maker’s mark. The bracelet opens to 3 1/2 inches across with the safety c...
