Admittedly my favorite Mexican modernist, Salvador Teran seems to have never had a "bad" moment during his career. There is not one piece of his that I have come upon which I have not loved for its quirky abstraction, its sometimes tongue-in-cheek genius, its magical way of playing with layers, abstraction and oxidation. The mod pendant presented here provides a good illustration, I believe, of the point I am trying to make...

Measures about 1 5/8" across and 1 7/8" high including the bale. In very nice condition with a dark patina, we did not polish it.
Marked with the Anvil, and 925S on one side of the bale and Finland on the other side. Fine example of Kauppi's work.
An amazing modernist sterling silver ring with an abstract figural design signed with what looks like JPC, Iceland and 925S. Measures about a size 7- 7.5. The top sits 1/2" high and measures about 7/8" across and 1 3/8" long. Has an interesting hammered texture. Really stands out! Great example of Scandinavian modernist design.
Spratling gold designs rarely appear on the market. Here he uses hand-carved spondylus shell, 18K gold beads & coral shell to eye-catching effect. Each earring measures 1 1/2" high x 1 1/4" across. Both are in beautiful, original condition. Interestingly, his design embeds 2 extra gold beads into the shell of only one earring. A Spratling necklace of spondylus & 18K gold is pictured on p.58 of WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE. On pgs...

A very fine Victorian tortoise shell pin inlaid with gold and silver in a floral and butterfly pattern. The design is beautifully executed and is a bit more ornate than much piqué work. The inlaid metals are engraved to add even more depth to the design. The tortoise is nicely translucent when held to strong light. The back retains the original pinstem, but the clasp is a replacement.
Origin: America, ca. 1870. Condition: excellent, no missing inlay, replaced clasp...
Formed as a stylized starburst of forged wire with a central sterling silver bead, this pin is based on the Joseph Skinger design, but made and signed by Martin Lasak. The pin has a delicate look but is sturdily made. The back sports a secure rollover clasp, as well as a sterling mark. Lasak, of Bar Harbor, Maine, was trained by and worked for Joe Skinger during the 1960s in Skinger's Vermont studio, according to Joe's daughter Carol...

A collection of antique Ethiopian silver jewels, most of them Coptic Christian crosses. There is also a digit finger ring for a lady, and an ear spoon. Old Ethiopian silver, like these crosses, usually has a very high silver content, but is not hall marked. However, all these items have been tested for a silver content of at least 925 /1000. Altogether they weigh 127 grams. Sizes: largest cross "3 ½ / 9.2 cm and the smallest "1 ½ / 3.7 cm, inner diameter of the ring "3/4/ 18.5 mm...
A gorgeous 18K yellow gold circle brooch surrounding a spray of diamond flowers tied with a golden ribbon. The brooch dates to the reign of Emperor Napoleon III. The remaining 31 diamonds in the brooch are a mix of rose-cuts, old mine-cuts and single-cuts. The stones are of particularly good quality for the period, with bright color and excellent clarity...
We are offering a Los Castillo clamper bracelet that is rarely seen. It has a Matl feel to the design and is really exceptional. 1 5/8th in. tall at it's widest point. The silver is thick and heavy at 75 grams of weight. No damage and natural patina.
Composed of three thick strands of rope-like white metal chain, braided into one continuous strand. Very dramatic look, and the necklace is surprisingly comfortable to wear, considering its heft. It measures 1 inch wide, with a circumference of about 2 ½ inches; the necklace drops about 15 inches when worn.
