For the marine and nautical art collector, an oil on canvas painting of a cargo ship in harbor, not shown in its entirety, the focus on the stern and upper structure of the boat including the stack. The painting is signed at lower right "R C Harrington" and dated there 1930. Measurements are 20" by 25" and 26" by 31" as framed...
Very subtle and elegant oil on canvas, 24 1/2" by 30" (27 1/2" by 33 1/2" as framed) signed at lower right by listed Midwest artist MARY C. PETERSON and dated "31", showing an Asian inspired still life scene in monochromatic minimalist tones of beige, gray and tan. The artist added just a spot of color at lower left where two iris are in full flower. This is a particularly easy to live with painting---I enjoyed it on my wall for quite some time...

Tyler is known to have lived and worked in Troy, NY during the 1850‘s and 60‘s where, aside from Abel Buell Moore, he was Troy’s best known artist...
Original oil painting on masonite board by George Joseph Habergritz, a well-listed 20th Century New York painter. This painting measures 13" by 9" (20" by 16" in its original frame). From around 1950, excellent provenance, and excellent condition. Please see our other listings for more paintings by this artist.
Oil on canvas coastal scene of a sandy beach with small breaking waves, rugged coastal rock formations in the distance, signed at lower left by contemporary artist Brian Babinski, titled on the stretcher "Baker Beach, Trinidad, California", and dated there 1985. Trinidad is in far northwest California, near the Oregon line. The large work, 24" by 36" (32 1/2" by 44 1/2 framed) is quite impressively detailed and meticulously painted...
A contemporary painting of the famous Lone Cypress clinging to the rocks along the Seventeen Mile Drive on the Monterey Peninsula, near Carmel on California's central coast. The oil on canvas, 12" by 16" (14" by 18 1/2" framed) is signed at lower left by artist Florence Antree. The work is clean. I note a small hairline abrasion/puncture in the branches at upper left, largely hidden by the composition. A little appropriately matched watercolor around it would hide the issue completely...
Oil on canvas painting of a classic red barn in Alaska's Matanuska Valley near Anchorage, signed at lower left by artist Ted Goldstone and dated 3/69 and titled on stretcher. The Matanuska Valley is known as Alaska's prime agricultural area. The long hours of daylight in summer have produced record cabbages, among other produce. The high surrounding mountains remind one that one is in Alaska and not the Midwest. The art measures 16" by 12".
Oil on canvas painting of a trellis and a patio, lots of flowers and impressionistically depicted leaves filling the composition, 24" by 36", unframed, signed at lower right "ED CORDEZ". No listed artist by this name comes up in any net searches I've made so I will consider this a fine work by a talented though unlisted artist. It was probably executed within the past twenty years. Condition is excellent. You'll easily find a standard size 24" by 36" frame to complement the work.
Oil on canvas laid on board, 7" by 11" and 1 1/2" wide beautiful original pie crust frame in good condition, unsigned, but without a doubt the distinctive work of noted and prolific Northern California painter RICHARD DETREVILLE (one of several works by the artist in my shop). Detreville was born in South Carolina in 1864, and by the early years of the new century, he was in Stockton publishing a magazine. Shortly thereafter he was in San Francisco, represented by a gallery...
Oil on canvas laid on old board of a country landscape with an apple tree at left and a split rail fence surrounding a clearing, 14" by 21 3/4" (18" by 26 1/4" as framed), apparently unsigned, but dated 1885 in the lower right corner. I feel the painting could be by a listed artist but the painting is not talking. The predominating greens and browns and the old gold frame make for a Hudson River style painting...
Original oil on paper titled "Western Hills Series #56" and signed lower right by Katherine Chang Liu, 1988. Liu an internationally renowned painter and teacher. Born in China, Liu received a full scholarship to UC Berkeley. Her work has been featured in 26 books and over 70 magazine articles. A fine oil on canvas by Leo Jansen (American 1930-1980) whose career is best noted for his nudes and the many paintings of Playmates of the Month for Playboy magazine during the 1960s and 70s. His reputation earned many commissions from then-reigning stars such as Raquel Welch and Stephanie Powers.
This painting features a beautiful partially expose, reclining brunette looking away from the viewer...
Hal Robinson (1875-1933), NY and Connecticut. This lovely impressionist painting is oil on canvas, 7" by 9" and signed Hal Robinson lower right. Condition is excellent.
Large mixed media abstract painting (28 3/4" by 39 1/2", 31 3/4" by 42 1/2" in gold leaf frame) on plywood panel, signed at lower right "WAHL", and dated there 2001. The painting is striking and handsome, the color combinations very in tune with today's retro contemporary look. A brief search of the name does not immediately point to a known artist. Medium is perhaps a thinned oil or gouache possibly, with some pencil lines drawn as well...
Painting on canvas of urban skyline with foreground boats, painted in modern and stylish grays, black, white and red, signed at lower right "LF Mark" or similar. The piece, in strip typical late sixties or early seventies frame, measures 18 1/2" by 26". Condition is very good save for a small puncture at lower left that actually blends in with the design and is not all that easy to find. Frame at left and lower right is also ever so slightly askew. Would make a tasteful addition to your Mid ...
