I think the paint is likely acrylic. The work is a rather more affordable version, compared to the six or seven figure paintings by the master. An oil on canvas painting, unsigned, the subject the Arizona desert (we know that because of the saguaro cacti that are not found elsewhere), 22" by 30" (29 1/2" by 38" framed). The painting is deliberately painted in a very pale fuzzy blonde light, with pastel tones, making it somewhat difficult to photograph due to the lack of strong contrasts. The materials suggest a circa 1950's or late 1940's date of execution.

This charming portrait displays the influence of the “Gibson Girl” fashion sense with her softly piled hair and high collared blouse, made popular by the artist Charles Dana Gibson in the 1890’s.

This is an appealing little sketch, oil on board of a landscape with a line of trees, a tawny field, a few structures and an extensive view beyond, unsigned, circa 1940's or 1950's. It is obviously by a talented artist who failed to sign his or her name. Perhaps it is a study for a more finished painting to come. Measuring 12" by 16", it should be easy to find a (common, "standard size") suitable frame. Condition is good save for a stubbed, worn corner at upper extreme right, as shown.

Painting on paper, either oil or acrylic, the subject a young boy, from the "Georgia Series", signed at lower right and again on the reverse backing by well listed American artist HARLEY MANLIUS PERKINS (1883-1964). The work, measuring 30" by 24" and 37" by 30 1/2" as framed, likely dates to about the late 1940's or early 1950's. A circa 1920 painting of a waterfall emerging from a steep cliff above a gorge, signed at lower right by artist S. P. Christesen. I do not see a listing for an artist by this name, or Christensen, but clearly he/she was talented. The scene would appear to be western American, though I recently viewed photos of the noted Montmorency Falls in Quebec, Canada, and there is a strong resemblance to this scene. A hint to the origin may be on the reverse, where "Fab-Rik-O-Na" is printed on the burlap...

Oddly, considering the quality, there is no listing of an artist by this name. The painting probably dates to the 1950's or thereabouts. The frame has very light wear but retains its value.

A PAIR of American oil on board mountain landscapes, each 23 1/2" by 11 3/4" (29 1/2" by 17 1/2" framed), both signed at lower corner A. A. Baker. There does not seem to be biographical information on the Hudson River-inspired artist, who likely painted these in the mid 1880's. It is doubtful that they have ever been cleaned.
