It came to us in what appears to be the original frame with the Walter Klinkhoff Gallery,Montreal, label on the back. The title of this work is: "Winter Lac Ouimet, Mont Tremblant", it is a view of the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec. A very beautiful, elegant landscape painting of a somber, late autumn day in the Northeast, probably Connecticut, 14" by 26" (19 1/2" by 31 1/2" framed), signed at lower left by the quite well regarded American artist WILLIAM MERRITT POST (1856-1935). The scene is of a small brook running in a boggy meadow area, scattered trees either bare of their leaves or about to lose them in the growing autumn chill. Colors used are somber and respectful of the season portrayed...

A painting of the famous Andes mountain and lake resort of Bariloche in central Argentina, oil on canvas, 22" by 29", unframed, signed "MA" at lower right and "M. C. Alsina" on stretcher, circa 1960. The work is dusty and could benefit from a cleaning to remove foxing in the sky, and has some paint losses that can be easily restored (scratch at left and lower extreme corner). The deep blue of the sky against the gray of the mountains and lake makes for an elegant and satisfying color pairing...

Oil on canvas laid on a card, unstretched, signed at lower right corner "C Vianello". The subject is an older lady seated in a darkened interior, obviously deep in thought. The work measures 13" by 10 1/4". It is sorely in need of some restoration, as it was laid long ago on a card which is now bent and cracked. The surface though stable is dry, and there is soiling and no varnish present...

A colorful Haitian painting on canvas, 17 1/4" by 25 1/4" as framed, signed lower left by artist "Teddy C." or "J. Eddy.C.", the scene a typical coastal village of small colorful dwellings, with small boats offshore and three total figures, one on horseback. There is a small hole about 1/2" square at lower right as shown. It can no doubt be minimized with some tape applied to the reverse side. See other Haitian paintings in my shop.
