Watercolor on paper, unframed, 13 3/4" by 21 3/4", the subject a New England coastal scene with rocks, distant sailboats, and a lighthouse on a headland, the work signed at lower left. This is a typical watercolor painting by the noted artist OTIS S. WEBER (1847-) of New England. Although he is listed, and works sell regularly at auction, not a lot seems to be known about Weber's life and career, but paintings dated as early as 1876 are known. He seems to have worked into the 20th century...

A StylizedGroup of Crane Painting by Priest Joong-Kwang (1935-2002): Korea, this painting mounted with a brocaded cloth and wood framed back. This quite large stylized group of crane painted in ink and red color on paper, and dated 1980s, signed Joong-Kwang in red seal in Korean. It’s in very fine condition, and measures 113.7cm x 39.5cm (44 3/4” x 15 1/2”) painting only.

Old watercolor on paper painting, a study of trees by a lake, the artist likely American, circa 1920's, 13 1/4" by 8 1/2" inside the old mat, possibly signed at extreme lower right corner but it is indecipherable. There are old framer's instructions on the reverse side. The work was found framed and the frame is possibly available to the purchaser at no extra charge, but it is worn and tired. A fresh framing job will do wonders for this fine old watercolor painting.

Watercolor painting of Bridgeway in Sausalito, San Francisco's neighbor across the Golden Gate. This would be a view looking south in the direction of San Francisco and the bridge. The building at center would have been called Ondine's (high end restaurant) during the 1970's and 1980's when this may have been painted (I remember, as I used to live in Sausalito at that time). The unframed piece measures 11 1/2" by 15". It is signed at lower right by well listed artist SUN YING (1919-2016)...

On the backing in pencil the artist titled the work "Springtime---Still Snowing" and signed it once again. The 18 1/2" by 12 1/2" work (25 1/2" by 19" in gold metal framing) is by a woman artist who recently passed away in Malibu, California. A number of her works were available for purchase at the estate sale...

A watercolor of a lighthouse on the Maine coast, 9" by 13" (15" by 19" in wood frame), signed at lower right by artist Donna Sabaka (1946-). On the reverse is written "The Nubble Light"/York/Cape Neddick, Me.". The artist signed again there and wrote "Kennebunkport, Me. 1986". The lighthouse is in the extreme southern portion of Maine, in the heavily visited coastal strip of that state---a large tourist draw in summer...

The work measures 14 1/2" by 22" (21 1/4" by 28 1/2" in metal frame)...

Circa 1960's drip painting on paper, 22 1/2" by 18", unsigned, mounted to a thin board. This is not a Jackson Pollock or Sam Francis, but it is a work of art and it has age. The thin paper is glued down at least at the edges and possibly in the center as well. The paper is browned where it has been under the mat for many years, (about 1 3/4" to about 1/2") and there is puckering where the paper has been glued...

Circa 1870's watercolor, in Victorian or turn of the century gold frame, signed at lower left. Signed by an apparently little known artist, Carl H. Schmidt. The watercolor measures 9 1/2" by 13 1/4" (21" by 24 1/2" framed). The scenery portrayed is perhaps in the Northeast states. When I originally acquired this item, it was with a watercolor of Florida (copied from a Currier and Ives print), signed by the same artist. That piece, of the same age as this, was sold separately.

THREE Asian (Chinese, I think, but possibly Korean) watercolor on silk paintings, each 9 1/2" by 11 3/4" (14 1/2" by 18 1/2" in gold framing), contemporary/late 20th century, featuring classic Asian landscapes of dramatic hills and tea houses and pines, making for a very decorative trio for your Asian-inspired interior. A few slight imperfections are present in the frames, but they are very minor. The drawings are in excellent condition.

Watercolor on paper laid on board painting of roses and hollyhocks in an intimate garden enclosed by a wall or structure, 16 1/4" by 13" and 1 1/4" wide frame, unsigned, executed late 19th or early 20th century. The artist's mastery of watercolor is clear, but unfortunately he or she failed to sign the work, which resembles paintings by members of the Stannard family of watercolorists (Henry John Sylvester 1870-1951, Lilian 1877-1944, Theresa 1898-1947)...

Nicely painted watercolor painting of dramatic alpine landscape, the location identified on the reverse in old Germanic handwriting that is somewhat difficult to decipher, though we can make out "Schoberspitze" and "Hohe Warte", placing this in Austria. The Schoberspitze reaches 2602 meters (8535 ft.) elevation. Comparison with a photograph of the mountain range shows a startling accuracy with the watercolor...

In the background cliffs and the road by the sea lead to the bay of Minori. In the hazy background one can also distinguish the elevation of the Golf of Salerno...
