Oil on canvas, 18" by 21 1/4", unframed, signed at lower right "A. Alvarez", the subject a colorful flower stall "La Flor de la Rambla" in an obviously European (Spanish, no doubt) town. The work is in need of a frame but otherwise is ready for display. Presently there is an inner frame remnant but no true frame.

Painting on canvas of a corgi dog in a landscape that suggests the beach, signed on the reverse with initials EG, which correspond to Eric Gregory. The painting is titled by the artist "Corgi study". Condition is excellent. The artist has not only created a simple portrait of a corgi; it is art, considering the placement of the animal within the landscape----off to the side, rather than centered...

This is a difficult to describe painting----we see a beach on a summer's day, the blue sea beyond; budding clouds, a spiky yucca at left, and what look at first like children's sandbox toys in the sand, until it appears that maybe they're not children's sandbox toys. The "tower" at right looks more like a Greek islands windmill, the "sail" a takeoff from the yucca. There's also a starfish, a bucket, a brightly colored striped beach ball--and a difficult to make out signature...

Beautifully executed watercolor signed at lower left "DAVIES", of a male mallard in flight above a tawny field. Measurements 4 3/8" by 6 7/8" (11 3/8" by 13 1/2" as framed). I see there are a few listed Davies artists but am not sure that this is one of them. If you like wildlife and sporting art or are a member of Ducks Unlimited, you will like this little painting! .

Oil on board painting of colorful flowers in a blue ceramic vessel on a tabletop, 20" by 26" (26 1/2" by 32 1/2" as framed), apparently unsigned, the work dating to probably the years around 1930. There is an old crack at upper right as shown, not especially visible to the casual viewer, and I note some flaking and unstable paint in the lower 1/4 of the painting (see bright yellow underpaint showing through----ask for more detailed photos of this).

A sunny, somewhat whimsical impressionist oil on canvas painting, 27" by 20" (34" by 27" framed), featuring a metal simple table set against a wall, with potted flowers completing the composition. The artist "Alicandro" or "Ulicandro", signed at lower right. Condition is excellent, only very slight frame abrasions.

A colorful contemporary painting of villagers in Africa going about their daily activities, 15" by 18 1/2" in hand painted colorful frame, unsigned. On the reverse in an English-influenced style of handwriting is written: "Village Life/Two women are carrying buckets of water and the other is sweeping while the other is pounding. Boys are herding cattle and the mother is bathing the baby while men are drinking beer. Two women are carrying bundles of firewood"...

Watercolor painting of a dramatic western American mountain, unframed, executed on a 12" by 17 1/2" sheet of watercolor paper, unsigned. The mountain resembles the pyramidal Going to the Sun Mountain in Montana's Glacier National Park, but I suppose this could be elsewhere in the great American west. Condition is excellent; the work needs only framing.

An early (early 20th century) unframed watercolor of the brick buildings of San Francisco's Chinatown, unsigned, 11 1/2" by 7 1/2", from the collection of a longtime San Francisco art dealer. The work includes a number of figures in traditional Chinese clothing, along with the ornamental grillwork of some balconies overlooking the street in these post-Gold Rush buildings. The artist could be any number of listed artists, or perhaps, a talented amateur. There is light foxing in the sky.

Oil on canvas painting of a calf standing in a tawny meadow, 12" by 12" (15 1/4" by 15 1/4" in simple wood frame), signed at lower left "Hutcheson". This is a simple yet competently painted work by an artist whose identity remains unknown to me. I have searched online and feel this could be by a female Arkansas artist, but that would be just a guess. Condition is excellent.

This is an oil on canvas painting (measuring 7 3/4" by 9 3/4", plus very thin simple wood frame), laid down on a board, by the noted Northern California artist JOHN HENRY RAMM (1879-1948). It is titled on the reverse in the artist's own distinctive handwriting "Looking Down Bush Street" and initialed and dated 1930 (not signed on front, but, this is definitely the artist's way of signing; I have handled a number of his works in the past)...

Oil on board painting of a harbor with small boats, 11 3/4" by 14", (15 1/2" by 17 1/2" in stained oak frame), said by a handwritten note on the reverse to be Morro Bay in central California. The note reads "View of Morro Bay/by Mary Harrington on trip of California coast with friends Mr. & Mrs. Dan Castro 1961". The painting might be signed by the artist at lower right; difficult to see among the browned varnish...

THREE Asian (Chinese, I think, but possibly Korean) watercolor on silk paintings, each 9 1/2" by 11 3/4" (14 1/2" by 18 1/2" in gold framing), contemporary/late 20th century, featuring classic Asian landscapes of dramatic hills and tea houses and pines, making for a very decorative trio for your Asian-inspired interior. A few slight imperfections are present in the frames, but they are very minor. The drawings are in excellent condition.

Watercolor signed in the lower right corner H.L.B. and pencilled in on the back Harriet L. Barnecott. Nicely framed and matted under glass. The frame measures 11-1/5" x 16"

Framed and matted under glass, a vibrant watercolor featuring workers in the rice fields. Indistinct signature (Jalin 49 or Jalimus ?). Not examined out of frame. The frame measures 16" x 19-1/2".

An old watercolor painting titled at lower left "Atitlan Guatemala", signed at lower right by artist "M. Moody". This may be a listed watercolor artist by the name of Marion Moody but that cannot be confirmed. The work is well handled, the old architecture and five foreground figures nicely painted. Lake Atitlan is a famous scenic lake in central Guatemala, ringed by volcanic peaks and popular with tourists to this day. The painting measures 9 3/4" by 13" (13" by 17" framed).

A vintage watercolor by an unknown amateur artist, titled at bottom "Santa Barbara Mission", unframed, measuring 14 1/2" by 11 3/4". The work on old paper would appear to date to maybe the 1930's or early 1940's at latest---think the "Route 66" era of travel in the American West (though this site is not on or near Route 66). It was likely created by or for a tourist. Note the Native Americans at center in the reflecting pool or fountain...

Oil on canvas painting, probably English late 19th century, unsigned, of a small body of water, two cottages and a man in a rowboat completing this traditional subject. The work measures 16" by 19 1/2" (24" by 28" in newish framing). The painting could almost be called "Hudson River style" but it is clearly of European origin. Condition appears good overall to the casual observer...
