Stephen Parrish, American, 1846-1938, "A Fishing Hamlet- Bay of Fundy, 1882," Etching, image size 5 1/4 x 8 1/8 inches, 1882, plate signed l.l. "S Parrish" and "68" l.r., pencil signed l.r. "Stephen Parrish". This etching was made by Parrish after his painting, "A Fishing Hamlet, Bay of Fundy--Evening, which was shown at the National Academy of Design in March 1882.

Etching with color possibly hand-applied, 9" by 8 1/2" as framed, unsigned, by important French 20th century artist MARIE LAURENCIN (1885-1956). From having checked the 1981 catalog raisonne by Daniel Marchesseau, I have determined that the most official title of this work is "Fillette aux Yeux Vertes" ("Young Girl with Green Eyes", although a number of other titles are in common usage for this essually popular print)...

Gerald Leslie Brockhurst 1890-1978 English One of the finest portrait etchings ever created by British artist Gerald Brockhurst. "Henry Rushbury", created and printed in 1930. Rushbury, like Brockhurst studied at the Birmingham School of Art and the two later shared an apartment in London. Rushbury was an accomplished etcher as well... This etching is very richly printed, the subtle tonal range is incredible in person, our scan doesn't .do this image justice...

Gerald Leslie Brockhurst 1890-1978 English This is a very fine original etching by British artist Gerald Brockhurst. The subject is Kathleen Nancy Woodward and is titled: Jeunesse Doree (Gilded Youth) This image is pencil signed and dated G.L. Brockhurst 1942. The image measures 10 7/8X8 7/8 inches. The etching is printed on an antique cream toned laid paper with partial watermark. Printed in an edition of 75 this image appears in the Fletcher catalog as image number 80...

Etching of a young woman in dreamy sleep, 11 1/2" by 8 1/2" (14 3/4" by 11 3/4" simply framed), titled in the plate "Die Rosen", signed in the plate and again in the margin below in pencil by the German-born artist OTTO GOETZE (1868-1945). The artist's name is also sometimes spelled "Goetz" and some cite a death date of 1931. Goetze was born in Germany and was in San Francisco by 1930. Though evidently little known, judging at least from this sensitively rendered print, he was a master etcher...

Warren Davis, American, 1865-1928, "Seated Nymph," Etching, image size 8 x 5 3/4 inches, pencil signed l.r. "Warren Davis" on wove paper. Davis studied at the Art Students League in New York and became known for his etchings of idealized female figures. Many were used on the covers of Vanity Fair and Life magazines. Later in his career Davis exhibited in Europe and the United States including the Pennsylvania Academy and the Salmagundi Club.

Manuel Robbe French This is an original color aquatint etching by French artist Manuel Robbe. The title is: Femme A L'Estampe, Woman with Print. It was created and printed circa 1906 in an edition of 100. The image measures 21X14 7/8 inches. It is editioned lower left and signed in crayon lower right. A beautiful French style gilt frame. Alphonse Legros 1837-1911 French This is a fine large etching by French artist Alphonse Legros. The title is; Le Retour du Bois (Return from the Woods), Created circa 1880's. This was part of his series known as Death and the Wood cutter. This pencil signed impression measures 9 1/4X14 inches. Legros was a well known founder of the etching revival in France. This is one of his largest compositions. This image is in the collections of many museums through out the world...

Original, very scarce (edition of 30?) unframed 1909 etching known as "Pittsburgh, no. II", signed at lower right center in pencil by the important American etcher, illustrator, critic, author and teacher JOSEPH PENNELL (1857-1926). Evidently, Pennell himself printed this particular example as "imp" is written after his name. The sheet, heavily trimmed at three sides as seen, measures 9" by 12"...
