A Dutch 17th century etching of a standing horse near a humble abode, 6 3/4" by 7 3/4" (14" by 15 1/2" in 20th century appropriate black frame), unsigned, and with no initials or other indication as to authorship. The work bears old pencil notations on the reverse side of the mat; there appear to be names of potential artists that were pondered by a previous observer in my position (including, it appears, question marks to himself)...

Francis Hopkinson Smith, American, 1838-1915, "Bath Abbey". This rare, early 20th C. etching by Francis Hopkinson Smith measures 9 7/8 x 7 1/2 inches, pencil signed and titled. Smith was an author, artist and engineer, writing many books but also known for his atmospheric watercolors and oils. In his early years he is credited with building the foundation for the Statue of Liberty. At the age of 50 he gave up his engineering career and devoted the rest of his life to writing and painting.

A PAIR of very clean French artist 19th century etchings, the subject of both upper class women, one by CHARLES WALTNER (1846-1925), the second by ERNEST JOSEPH LAURENT (1859-1929). They are also very nicely (identically) framed in tasteful black and silvery framing, including silk mat and inner fillet; the frames also in excellent condition. This is an original etching by Reginald Marsh (American 1898-1954)of Minsky's Chorus, the famous Burlesque venue in New York City. The original painting of this scene is in the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum. The original shows a reverse scene.
The sheet size is 10 1/2" x 14 1/4", with the impressed image size of 8 7/8" x 11 3/4". The paper is heavy, textured, with a slight cream hue.
As is visible in the photos, there are losses to the margins on the right and at the bottom...

Japanese limited edition copperplate etching titled “Lake Landscape” by Tanaka Ryohei (1933-2019). Pencil-signed, dated '99, and numbered 37/150 in the lower margin. The title in kanji and the number 630 is at the bottom left margin. Paper: 10 3/16" x 11 7/8" (image: 6 1/2" x 8"). Very good overall condition with only a tiny bend in the very edge of the upper left margin. Never framed.
