Print by Birger Sandzen (Swedish American Artist 1871-1954), titled "The Sentinels", a well known image by this revered artist, done with what is described as Nailhead print making, similar to his woodblock and linoleum prints, though having much more precise definition and detail. Limited edition Japanese silkscreen over metal leaf by Kazutoshi Sugiura (b. 1938) depicting an ikebana arrangement titled "Iris No. 48" dated 1985. Pencil-signed, dated '85, titled in kanji, and numbered 32/100 in the bottom margin. Paper: 20” x 12 1/2" (image: 17” x 9 3/8”). Excellent original condition.

Master Artist Jean Volang, was born in Vietnam in 1921 and began his painting at an early age when he was taught by a French born teacher who later told him to paint in France, especially Paris where he could make his mark in the world. Never forgetting his roots of his beloved Vietnam, his most celebrated works are of his memories there. This is one of his most celebrated lithographs. Signed and an ARTIST PROOF. 29” x 24”

Japanese limited edition woodblock print by Morihiro Sato (b. 1943) depicting white bellflowers. A student of Joichi Hoshi who was influenced by Hoshi's use of metallic pigments, the artist set the flowers and partial moon (or sun) against a metallic background. Depending upon the lighting conditions (see image taken with flash) the background appears either golden or silver. The print is pencil-titled in kanji "Autumn (Bellflowers)" and numbered 3/55 at the lower left...

Haku Maki did some purely white prints—some had a small splash of color, others had none. This one, 81-3, offers three white plump persimmons. Persimmons were an oft-used subject, sometimes a single depiction of the fruit, sometimes two, but very rarely three persimmons and even more rarely done only in white. The print measures 9.5in W x 10.75in H and is in excellent condition. An edition of 130, this one is number 90.
