In the period 1966-67, Haku Maki did two large series with Song as the theme.
There was Flower Song, a series of 10 prints. And there was Animal Song which was Maki’s Asian Zodiac series, with 12 images. It was also a small series with small editions--50 in the case of Animal Song (released in Kyoto, so very hard to find: only one friend has the full set), I do not know who has the full set of Flower Song.

This is an original etching by American artist James Whistler. The title is: "La Marchande de Moutarde" It was part of the series titled: "The French Set", published and printed in 1858. This etching is signed lower left corner of the image, printed on a thin Japan type laid paper. According to the Glascow catalog this is state V/V before the plates cancellation. The image measures 6 1/4X3 1/2 inches.

This is a drypoint etching by French artist Louis Legrand. The title is : English Bar, from his Album Les Bars, published by Pellet in Paris in 1909. This impression is from the first state of three with the Remarque of a Woman in Profile. The image measures 9 3/4X5 5/8 inches. Hand signed in pencil, printed on a Japon type paper. Numbered as 1/30.
Original print in black and white, described on paperwork affixed to the backing as a Heliogravure, 10 1/4" by 8 3/4" inside the mat (26" by 22" as framed), not signed or numbered. The popular and familiar image is "Gabrielle et Jean" (after the famous painting of Renoir's wife and son). Heliogravure is described as one of the very earliest photographic etching processes. Apparently in 1919 at the artist's death, heliogravures were made of many of his popular paintings...

An impressively large color print of the year 1977, titled appropriately "Boat", pencil signed at lower right and dated there, and numbered 23/150 at lower left, by the noted, Japanese-born artist KENZO OKADA (1902-1982). The print, 27 1/2" by 34" inside the mat (36" by 42" in attractive and complementary quality silvery frame) is decidedly modern but the imagery has its root in Asian and specifically Japanese art. Okada was born in Yokohama to a privileged background...
