I have not found a listing for such a name, even when varying the letters a bit. So, this is offered as a nice decorative work showing a peaceful deep fjord probably on the west coast of Norway, a small structure at right. The reflection in the water is probably the most skillfully painted area...

The image and colors used are rather expressionist, in the manner typical of the few Wending works that have appeared on the market. According to an online biography, Wending was born in Freiberg, Germany in 1914, the year in which World War One began...

Oil on canvas, 20" by 27" and simple wood frame 1 1/4" wide on a side, the subject a ceramic vase with exotic bird motif, on a tabletop, the vase and surrounding area filled with various flowers including carnations, hydrangeas, roses of various colors, and perhaps goldenrod. The work is signed at lower right "G Cocco" (GIUSEPPE COCCO 1879-1963), a listed painter from Naples, Italy. Cocco's signature is hard to decipher and as a result I think he is less known than he should be...

Oil on canvas, 15 1/4" by 18 1/2" (22" by 25" as frame), the subject a copper or ceramic tub filled with red flowers , all against a simple background. The painting is not signed on the front but on the reverse is "Yerda Werkel" and "von Kurtz" and "1.9.46". So we have likely a German, Swiss or Austrian artist who would have painted this soon after the end of the war. I don't see a listing for the artist but she was talented...

Oil on canvas, 25 1/2" by 18" (32 1/2 by 24 1/2" as framed), apparently unsigned, circa 1930 to 1950, and very probably European (French or perhaps Scandinavian, judging from the stretcher). The painting is something of a mystery, the mysterious hand and spectacles at lower left coming from outside the image area. Almost certainly this was created by a listed artist but without a signature I cannot go further on that front...

Signed at lower left "Albert L. Fischer", this is an unframed, sizable oil on canvas (46" by 27"), the scene almost mural-like: an apparently Italian lake (see the gondolier at right), framed by blooming wisteria dripping off a trellis at top and climbing a lattice at bottom, several boats plying the calm lake waters. I don't see a listing for the artist. The work was sold by an interior design firm here in Los Angeles, which no doubt incorporated this unusual painting into an interesting set...

An old oil on gray board painting of a stone bridge over the Seine River in central Paris, in high autumn. The work measures 9" by 12" (11 3/4" by 14 3/4" in attractive maybe 1930's frame). The signature at lower left appears to be "E Turner", the "E" placed on top of the "T". If I am reading this correctly, there does not appear to be a listed artist that would correspond. In any event, the work is excellent, and by a trained hand.

The painting likely dates to about 1960, judging from the clothing of the people in the image. I do not see a listing by this name but am continuing to research. Condition: the painting will need restoration. The canvas has separated from the stretcher, so the stretcher will need to be replaced, or the canvas will have to be re-attached to the present ...
