Meierhans, b. - 1890 in Switzerland, came to the United States in 1917, eventually settling in Bucks County. He studied under A.N.Lindenmuth and J. Sloan. He was a member of the S.Indp.Artists, ASL, Provincetown A.A. and the American Abstract Artists

Oil on canvas laid on board, 21" by 34" (26" by 39" as framed), unsigned, circa 1880 I would guess, the painting consisting of a classic Hudson River view with steep hills bordering a river, a boat completing the scenery. There is a very nice luminosity to this particular example, a very nice handling of the light in the leaves of the trees. The painting has an approximately 5" long horizontal old cut in lower portion as shown, not unusual for a work of this age...

A competently painted, luminous little work on canvas, 12" by 16" (17 1/4" by 21" framed), the subject high mountains in full fall color, likely the Rockies in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana or Idaho (or, possibly, even Canada). The artist signed the painting "C H Wells" at lower right. The painting likely dates to the 1970's or 1980's. While I do not see a listing for an artist by this name, he or she was clearly talented. The eye is drawn deep into this spacious and pleasant scene...

This original oil painting is a spectacular depiction of a mare and foal grazing in the field. Artist Signed and dated-Cresman 1986. The detail of the lights and shadows really make this artwork shine. The mares coat truly glistens in the sunlight. Comes in original wooden frame. Ready to hang on the wall. This is an American painting from the first half of the 20th century, the subject gulls in flight. The unsigned oil on canvas measures 24" by 36", plus 2 1/2" of interesting Deco style weathered black painted wood frame on a side. I purchased this in Miami some years back, thinking the work bore considerable resemblance to the Florida-period works of JANE PETERSON (1876-1965), a major American artist who painted in South Florida for some time...

This oil on canvas painting of a waterfall in a forest, the light refracting the spray into a rainbow, was acquired by me more than 15 years ago here in Los Angeles. Measuring 14 1/2" by 11 3/4" (19" by 16" in circa 1930 frame), it retains some evidence of a signature, in red, at lower right, that signature ending in "s"; and on the stretcher confidently written in an old hand is "F. De Bergh Richards". (His name has been variously spelled as "De Berg", "DeBourg", etc.)...
