Charles Brooking, 1723-1759, English. This oil on panel is a fine example of the early work of Charles Brooking, known as one of the finest British Maritime painters. It is 13" by 19" in a handsome newer frame (overall dimensions of 16 3/4" by 22 2/4".) The condition is good and it is signed indistinctly (as many of his paintings are) on the piece of wood floating in the lower front of the painting. He is listed in Benezit and his paintings sell for up to $400,000.

A contemporary (new/newish) oil on canvas painting of a late 19th century hybrid sail and steamship, (of the type common in the 1880's and 1890's), 24" by 36" (35" by 46 1/2" framed), unsigned.
