Watercolor on paper of a street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, I think Pirates Alley, 19" by 13" inside the mat and 28 1/2" by 22 1/2" as framed, signed discretely at lower left near the fence by the listed New Orleans artist TOM LANE (1916-1991). Lane was born in Toledo, Ohio but became a familiar figure in the French Quarter, painting in oil and watercolor the familiar and much-loved scenes frequented by tourists...

Large watercolor painting in impressionist manner, the subject an old boat, the "Virginia", stored in drydock by a coast. The work, 14" by 22 1/2" inside the innermost mat (25" by 34" framed) is signed at lower right with a signature that greatly resembles that of noted American illustrator artist JON WHITCOMB (1906-1988). Whitcomb is known for his commercial art for publication, featuring glamorous young women...

Circa late 19th century watercolor painting, probably American, 9 1/2" by 13" (16" by 19 1/4" framed), unsigned, featuring distant high snowy peaks behind a foreground lake. This was found in California and could be a scene of the American west. More than likely, it is by a listed artist---who neglected to sign his or her work. There is some edge browning from the mat, otherwise the work is in excellent condition considering its obvious age.

Original untitled watercolor by Rika Schwimer (aka Schwimmer). An Israeli artist born in Poland, Rika Schwimer has been described as Israel's foremost watercolorist. Her work has been exhibited in her native Poland, as well as in France, Israel, and the United States. This painting retains its original gallery frame. It is signed twice l.r. 13" by 19" painting alone, 22" by 28" in frame. Excellent condition.

Watercolor on paper laid on board still life of flowers and a vase in an interior, 15 1/2" by 11 1/2" (25" by 20" in a tired and worn old frame, not pictured but possibly available at no extra cost), signed at lower left and dated 1870 by the well listed New York artist MORSTON CONSTANTINE REAM (1840-1898). This is a rather early work by an accomplished and well listed artist, the younger brother of CARDUCIUS PLANTAGENET REAM (1837-1917), who encouraged Morston to develop his art skills...

Framed and matted under glass, a vibrant watercolor featuring workers in the rice fields. Indistinct signature (Jalin 49 or Jalimus ?). Not examined out of frame. The frame measures 16" x 19-1/2".

A vintage watercolor of two girls seated on rocks at the seashore, signed at lower left by artist Frank Lockwood and dated there 1945. The piece measures " by " and " by " as framed. All photos were taken through the detail-dulling non-glare glass that was popular in the sixties and seventies. I see a listing for a Frank Lockwood as photographer but no convincing listing for a painter by that name.

A vintage (mid century) watercolor painting of a very old stone church in Central America or Mexico, signed at lower left "Gil". The work is very nicely painted by an obviously talented watercolorist. Note the tiny figures in the composition, and the bright spots of color contrasting with the creamy stone of this circa sixteenth or seventeenth century church. Most likely this would be in Guatemala or one of the nearby countries, or in southern Mexico...

Offered together here as a pair, are two watercolors in vertical format, 6 3/4" by 3 5/8" inside the mat, (11 5/8" by 8" as framed), each signed at lower right by the noted Italian watercolorist artist UMBERTO ONGANIA. Ongania's works are almost instantly recognizable by virtue of their detail, handling of light, and technical excellence...

PAIR of watercolor still life paintings of floral subjects, 8 1/2" by 7" inside the mat (16" by 14" framed), circa mid 19th century, likely American (purchased in Maine). Note the exquisite detail and color. Hand drawn mats add to the vintage appeal. Later 20th century gold frames are in good condition. One mat has old browning/possible water damage at lower right, not affecting the art.

Unusual watercolor of what appears to be a wagon on the plains, piled high with rocks perhaps, and, even, the skull of a buffalo, signed at lower right "P. PARSONS '96". The watercolor is on paper and measures 8 1/2" by 18 3/4" (15 1/4" by 25 1/4" as framed). The work is in excellent condition with no foxing visible. I do not see an obvious listing for the artist. Found in San Diego area. Recently, on the east coast, I saw a watercolor coastal scene signed in the same manner.

Found in southwestern New Hampshire is this charming drawing, 7 3/4" by 5 3/4" (9 5/8" by 7 3/8" framed), the subject a lady with a slight neoclassical profile, standing isolated against an extensive landscape. There's no signature nor other information but it would appear to be an American drawing dating to the 2nd quarter of the 19th century...

Chinese Nineteenth Century Watercolor Portrait On Mulberry Paper measuring 63x29 Inches in a museum mounted frame

This is a contemporary work, signed at lower right "Christopher Clarke" and dated there "83". Measuring 11 5/8" by 16 5/8" inside the mat and 19" by 25" as framed, the work reminds of accomplished watercolor painters like Frank Weston Benson, Ogden Pleissner, Chet Reneson, and others who skillfully rendered duck hunters and their prey. Oddly I don't see a listing for this artist but he was clearly very talented. Note the wet-on-wet technique in the sky area...

Original watercolor of a typical scene in the sub-tropical island of Bermuda, 9" by 13 1/2" (18 1/2" by 22" in its gold frame), apparently unsigned, probably executed in the early 20th century. The painting's subject is a pink-walled home at left with two palm trees growing in the yard, a view to the water at right center. The painting is laid down on a board, and the gold overmat is glued down on top of it, so, were there a signature/date, it is hidden by the mat...

A nicely executed large watercolor painting of a vase with lilies and cattails, on a table top with candlestick prop, the entire sheet 27" by 22 1/2" (31" by 27" framed), signed under the mat by listed American artist LONA MILLER KEPLINGER (1876-1956). The work has an Arts and Crafts feeling. Colors are rich and not sun faded. The artist was born in Indiana and is most closely associated with Maryland, where the 1930 census information shows her living in Bethesda...

At first glance appearing to be a print, this is in fact a painstakingly executed watercolor drawing, likely French I am thinking, measuring 16" by 20 1/2" (23 3/4" by 28" framed). The subject is of formal 18th century (earlier?) figures lounging on a classical Versailles-like terrace. They are surrounded by a balustrade, fountain, distant trees, and, in the immediate foreground, a border of oversized flowers...
