Circa 1870's watercolor, in Victorian or turn of the century gold frame, signed at lower left. Signed by an apparently little known artist, Carl H. Schmidt. The watercolor measures 9 1/2" by 13 1/4" (21" by 24 1/2" framed). The scenery portrayed is perhaps in the Northeast states. When I originally acquired this item, it was with a watercolor of Florida (copied from a Currier and Ives print), signed by the same artist. That piece, of the same age as this, was sold separately.

Watercolor on paper, unframed, 9" by 11 3/4", signed at lower right in pencil, and signed again and apparently titled on the reverse, by the noted, long-lived American artist, THERESA FERBER BERNSTEIN (1890-2002). The watercolor likely dates to about the middle years of the 20th century, I would guess. Writing on the reverse seems to say "Israel/Yarkon River". In upper corner in different hand is "Yarkon, B./Israel"...

Circa late 19th century watercolor painting, probably American, 9 1/2" by 13" (16" by 19 1/4" framed), unsigned, featuring distant high snowy peaks behind a foreground lake. This was found in California and could be a scene of the American west. More than likely, it is by a listed artist---who neglected to sign his or her work. There is some edge browning from the mat, otherwise the work is in excellent condition considering its obvious age.

Watercolor on paper, unframed, 13 3/4" by 21 3/4", the subject a New England coastal scene with rocks, distant sailboats, and a lighthouse on a headland, the work signed at lower left. This is a typical watercolor painting by the noted artist OTIS S. WEBER (1847-) of New England. Antique watercolor painting of five rabbits in a grassy scene, feasting on several peaches, some reduced to just pits. The charming work measures 5 1/4" by 6 7/8" (and the old gold turn of the century frame is 11 1/4" by 13 1/4"). Frame is in above average condition for a frame of its type and period, with just one gold-painted area at left edge where there had been some loss of the design.

Small (8 1/2" by 7" framed) painting of a Russian Orthodox cathedral, dated 1998, ink writing in Russian at bottom. The colorful swirling domes resemble those on Saint Basil's in Moscow, but this is not an urban scene. Condition is excellent.

Perhaps there is a print source for this drawing. The work is signed in the lower right, “Tho. A watercolor painting of pine or cypress trees on the coast, perhaps a place like Carmel or Santa Barbara, measuring 14 3/4" by 18 3/4" (20" by 23 1/2" framed). The work is unsigned, (I have opened it up to peek inside, no writing anywhere) and judging from the framing it could date to the 1970's or 1960's. The artist used quality Arches paper (see blind stamp of same). The painting is clean and problem-free; over the years it has slipped inside its mat so will have to be probably re-affixed.
