The work, found in New England, was mounted on an old board years ago. As it was loose in the frame, I have removed it for photography, and will ship it between boards. The old frame has some losses and is available at no extra cost. Research to date has not led to a listed artist name that would correspond...

Watercolor painting on heavy textured paper by Marion Maas (1930-2023) in very abstract style, a large yellow sun, often seen in her art, and what may be hills, rivers and lakes, all very vivid in classic Fauvist style. Measures 11" x 15", sight size is 8" x 12". This image is almost entirely abstract, and depicts many of the stylistic components found in her art, from slight suggestions of landscape details to fanciful creations...

A watercolor painting of outbuildings and scrubby trees, 10" by 15 3/4" (20" by 25" framed), titled at lower right "Near Filkins/March 1934" and signed at lower left by listed English artist ANTHONY LOUSADA. This is a decorative, peaceful scene of late autumn by a pond or small lake, signed at lower left "Sydney Cooper". Even though the spelling differs ("Sidney"), this could be by or after the well-known English 19th century artist THOMAS SIDNEY COOPER (1803-1902), who was known for his landscapes with farm animals. The painting is unframed and measures 22" by 15 1/2"...

A charming work in watercolor with white gouache highlights, 13 1/2" by 10 1/2" (19" by 16" framed), featuring a young woman in the hugely popular Gibson tradition of the early years of the century, viewing her image in a hand-held decorative Art Nouveau mirror as she applies her lipstick. The work is signed at left "L. B. Hill" and dated 1910. Gibson had many imitators of his illustration style, some very talented and some less talented. This piece would be ideal in a woman's dressing area...

Apparently unsigned watercolor on heavy paper painting of an arid landscape in the American Southwest, including a distant mountain, barbed wire fencing at a dirt crossroads, and fading evening clouds, 14" by 17 1/2" as framed in a faux burl frame. When I first saw the image I was reminded of some of the watercolor art of Peter Hurd---the memorable scenes he painted of New Mexico. There is no evidence that he painted this one, but perhaps the artist was inspired by Hurd's imagery...

Watercolor painting of an old-fashioned water/wishing well in a garden setting, early years of the century, signed lower right KO ASHIWARA. There is an askart listing for the name but an internet search has yielded little information; apparently he had some connection to New York so was an individual of Japanese ancestry working in America.
