A hand painted vintage copy of perhaps HENRI MATISSE's most famous painting, "The Dessert: Harmony in Red", one of his Fauvist masterpieces dating to 1908. That large work about 71" by 87", hangs in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. You on the other hand can own this faithful copy, painted very sensitively by a talented unknown hand, most likely in the 1960's or 1970's. A beautifully executed watercolor painting of a proper Victorian lady in her fine parlor, her chair and small table sitting on a bear skin rug. The work is unfortunately unsigned. It measures 18 1/4" by 12 3/4" at the mat opening (25 1/2" by 19 1/2" as framed). This was acquired from a New Jersey dealer, in Florida. He claimed to have had a bit of paper with the name of the artist but has never been able to come up with it despite my requests...

The painting is signed in a manner consistent with the notoriously difficult to decipher signature of the artist HENRI d'ANTY (1910-1998) at lower right. Francois van Severdonck, Belgian, 1809-1889, "Sheep and Lamb in a Spring Landscape", Oil on panel, painting measures 7 x 9 3/8 inches in a 12 x 15 1/2 inch gold period frame. Signed and dated "F. Van Severdonck f. 1863" in the lower left, inscribed and signed by the artist on the reverse. A luminous painting with striking color and detail.

Sold as a PAIR, are watercolors of the tourist district of New Orleans by listed artist N. LUCKOW. Each measures 5 3/4" by 7 3/4" (11 3/4" by 12 3/4" as framed). One is titled on the mat "In the VIeux Carre", the other simply "In the French Quarter". One is in excellent condition with glass, the other has no glass and as a result of that the mat has become torn at lower left and at lower right...

A Watercolor by the Listed Artist, Kathryne Hail Travis (1894-1972). Travis was a student of Randall Davey, George Bellows, and Kenyon Cox. Measures about 13 1/2" by 9 1/2" matt opening, overall frame about 21 1/8" by 17 1/8". Titled "Fall Aspens on Mon Jeau", Travis has written that "Pic is watercolor sketch in the field for large oil painting in Texas..." Nice example.

This 1862 oil on canvas by the British artist Alfred Vickers measures 11 3/4 x 15 3/4 inches, signed and dated l.l., housed in original frame, partial European label on back. Born in London, Vickers was a self-taught landscape painter, who exhibited at the British Institute and the Royal Academy.

Watercolor on paper by Marion Maas, (American 1930-2023) depicting a stylized view of buildings with night sky and blood red moon, with eye like features in the sky, all in vivid color in Fauvist style, stamped on verse with estate stamp. Measures 12" x 15 3/4", sight size is 8" x 11 1/4". On smooth heavy paper, the painting is both exuberant and intriguing, the intensity of color and shape create a dense and rich image...

A strong watercolor on organic wafer portrait of a British staff officer. With his mutton-chop whiskers, he is dressed in the well-known red jacket, and sports gold epaulettes. The painting is housed in a wonderful gilt bronze brooch with a guilloche silver back, which displays a nicely tied curl of hair under a glazed aperture.

Sight size is 1 1/2" by 1 1/4", with an overall size of 1 3/4" by 1 1/2". The condition of the painting and the case is excellent, with no issues at all...
