Watercolor painting titled on the mat in ink "Rockport Bay", the subject small craft in a sheltered small harbor framed by distant hills. The artist signed the drawing at lower left "Norma Page Aug. '45" and again signed, this time on the mat, at lower right. There is another word after "Page" that appears as "Douyes" or "Damyes" or similar, but I am unable to locate a listed artist by any of these names...

Oil on canvas, 24" by 36" (28" by 39" as framed), UNSIGNED, but certainly by the popular listed California artist HERBERT SARTELLE (1885-1955) (I will stand by this). This is a classic mountain scene favored by the artist (he seems to have painted that particular mountain over and over again), with large eucalyptus trees and a lake with distant mountains, all executed in Sartelle's unique impressionistic style and characteristic color palette. The painting probably dates to the 1940s or 1950s...

Oil on canvas laid on board painting of the Grand Canyon, 17" by 21" (20" by 24" as framed), apparently unsigned, circa 1940's, possibly earlier, executed in a naive manner that borders on or crosses the line to folk art. I think the technique is intentionally naive and primitive, as opposed to just the less-refined work of an amateur artist. The frame (see close-up) adds to the folk art aspects. This is a fine addition to your Southwest or Southwest folk art collection.

This is a very pleasing country landscape (9 3/4" by 13 3/4" inside the mat, 16 1/2" by 20 1/4" as framed), executed in watercolor on paper by listed 20th century British artist F.L. BLANCHARD. A kind Englishman has emailed me to inform me that the building in the landscape is what is known as an "oasthouse", commonly seen in Kent, and used for processing hops for the brewing of beer...

Gouache on paper still life with iris and porcelain figurine of a woman, 20" by 15 1/2" and narrow gold frame of the period, signed at lower left with what appears to be "g. r. becker", and bearing in German script a Christmas (Weihnachten) 1941 dedication, the work apparently given as a gift, on the reverse framing paper. I do not see a listing for a name that would match this signature so am offering this as a decorative work...

A lovely highly impressionist oil on board painting of coffee pots and creamers on a table, apparently unsigned, and of vintage age, possibly 1930's or 1940's I believe. The work measures 14 1/2" by 15 1/4" (18" by 18 1/2" framed). On the reverse of the old board is written in old hand in pencil what appears as "Robert Swasey/327 Spring St./Portland Maine". I have looked for the name Robert Swasey in standard art search sites and have not located a known recognized painter by this name...

Gilberto Aceves Navarro 1950s oil on canvas Girl with Black bird. Unique oil on canvas with a watercolor splash type finish the back shows no water damage so we believe he painted it this way the lower r corner has a scratched signature. No damage size 12" by 14"

A Fine Painting by the Listed Iowa and Michigan Artist, Vernon Leroy Bobbitt (1911-92). Lightly signed on front bottom right "Bobbitt '43", exhibition label on back as shown. Painted on the rough side of masonite. Measures about 16" by 20", overall frame about 19" by 23". Great Regionalist Look.

Oil on canvas painting of flowers in a vase in an interior space, 23 1/2" by 25 3/4", signed at lower right by German artist ROLF REGELE (1899-1987). Regele was a student of Rudolf Stolz, and he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He painted generally landscapes of the Tirol region of Austria and Italy, as well as still life. During the 1930's his paintings were often reproduced full size and on post cards...

A beautiful Korean watercolor on paper layered on silk, depicting a pair of birds in flight measuring 47x27” circa 1980 by Master Artist JAE KO Born in 1961, Korean artist Jae Ko attended the Tokyo art school and received a BA from the Wako University in Japan and a MFA from the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore, USA...

Original oil painting on Masonite panel of a circus by Inez McCombs (USA, born in Philadelphia, 1895-1975). Circa 1940s. Signed lower right. In good condition and with original frame. Inez McCombs is associated with New Hope, Bucks County, and eventually Lambertville.

Oil on canvas laid on board painting of a late autumn landscape, complete with flaming trees and distant hillside across a lake, 9 1/2" by 13" (13"by 17" in old likely original frame),signed at lower right by American artist Isabel Scott. The painting likely dates to the years before 1950---possibly to the 1930's I am thinking. Condition is excellent. I do not see biographical information on any artist that would correspond to this name...

By the hand of well listed California artist ARNOLD BRAY (1892-1972), a small unframed oil on canvasboard (16" by 12") titled on reverse in pencil "Show Girl", signed and dated at lower right 1948. Bray was born in Odessa, Russia and came to San Francisco with his family at age 10. He studied at the California School of Fine Arts and later taught there...

Original oil painting on panel by Max Heimann (Germany, USA, born 1909). Circa 1940s. Probably painted in Shanghai where Heimann and his family were exiled during WWII. This painting is 17" square and is in excellent condition.

Oil on canvas painting of surf breaking on coastal rocks, 24" by 30" (29" by 35 1/2" framed), signed at lower right by the noted California painter GEORGE SANDERS BICKERSTAFF (1893-1954). Bickerstaff is a familiar name in California plein air art. He was a prolific artist, creating both landscapes of desert and eucalyptus and lupine, as well as seascape. This example probably dates to the late 1940's or early 1950's. It is in very good condition with only a pinpoint loss or two.

Oil on panel, 9 1/4" by 12 1/2" (14 1/4" by 17 1/4" as framed), signed at lower left in red "Karla Mirabal", and inscribed on label on reverse, "Judge M. R. Mirabal Homestead in New Mexico" "Artist Karla King--So Calif and New Mexico--Artists of West--WHAA". This is probably of historical interest, depicting as it does an early home. The work is very impasto and impressionistic. The painting is a bit soiled but could be placed on the wall as is. Note the two young girls on the porch.
