This is a very early watercolor, 9 1/2" by 5 3/4" framed, in the style of the early 19th century, titled at bottom "Double Rose", by an anonymous artist lost to time. His or her handiwork has survived likely 150 years or more but has lost a little color from fading, and the paper has browned. These are not faults---rather, they give the drawing age and character...

Contemporary watercolor painting of a sun-filled, arid landscape with eucalyptus, spiky yucca-like plants, and a lizard (Australian goanna?) in the foreground, the painting signed at lower right "Meg Hocking". The piece is likely from Australia, as the goanna and eucalyptus would suggest. An internet search does not turn up an artist by this name but obviously she knew watercolor painting. A fine miniature portrait by Augustus Fuller, done on natural material. The sitter is an attractive hazel-eyed woman sporting sausage curls and wearing a white lace bonnet, a white lace fichu with a centered brooch, and a black dress. Fuller took pains in this painting to the extent of showing details of the dress design with faint white highlights, shown in the second photo.

The condition of the painting is excellent, and viewed in person the miniature is far better than the photo shows...

A vintage impressionist oil on canvas painting of a sunny fenced meadow, signed with initials "FB" at lower right, 10" by 14" (14 1/4" by 18 1/4" framed). The work came from a German-American family which had brought much art from the old country, suggesting a European origin. The painting is pleasant and easy to live with. A cleaning to remove light surface dirt would be beneficial, as would a new gold frame, the present wood one not flattering to the work.
