Excellent condition with no issues, and in a period black wood frame. Sight size is 3 1/2" by 2 7/8", and the framed size is 5 5/8" by 4 1/2".

This is likely a scene of one of the famous northern Italian lakes such as Lago Maggiore or Lago Como. The bright light is captured with skill and perspective and color is obviously well handled by a talented artist...

A PAIR of very early works (each dated 1889, when the artist would have been in only his mid twenties), each 9 1/2" by 14" (15 1/2" by 19" framed) signed at lower right by Northern California artist JULES MERSFELDER (1865-1937). The pair features coastal scenes of boats off of a coast and several small beached boats with tiny figures. Mersfelder was born in Stockton, east of San Francisco and a gateway to the gold fields...

This is a skillfully painted still life in the tradition of eastern masters like the Ream's, or members of the so-called Fall River School. The artist signed at lower right, near the date, "Sanita" or a close variant. The area around the signature being very dry and "blanched", I moistened the area in order to make it easier to photograph the signature and date. Very surprisingly I have been unable to attach the work to a listed artist...

This is a really pretty watercolor on heavy watercolor paper by an obvious talent, 14" by 20" (22 1/2" by 28 1/4" as framed), the subject picturesque boats tied up along the banks of an idyllic stretch of river, a boathouse at left and a few figures completing the impressionist composition. The work's varieties of impressionistic blues are quite lovely, and there is simply excellent handling of color and light. The only fault, really, is that the artist did not sign the piece...

A good, small-size 19th century Mexican retablo depicting San Jeronimo. After a spiritual revelation, the saint lived as a hermit, often flagellating himself with a scourge and beating himself with rocks. He is shown here his traditional attributes of penitence--the bloody scourge, a skull, and rocks. He is often shown with fresh self-inflicted wounds, in this case a spray of blood droplets from his chest...

Oil on canvas, 18" by 22" (23 1/2" by 27 1/2" as framed), the subject the famous Paris opera house and the Cafe de la Paix at left, executed in the naive style of painters like Emile Blondel, Leon-Alphonse Quizet, and so forth, apparently unsigned, though the word "Lancel" on an awning could possibly be the artist's name. The painting dates to the post war period, likely the 1950's or early 1960's at latest, considering the style of the autos in the scene...

At first glance this looks like an American Hudson River style oil, with fine detail, a split rail fence, and the structures in the center left area, which look more American than European. An oil on canvas, unframed, measuring 23" by 19", the work is difficult to describe: a carp-like blue fish at right center appears with conical mountains that resemble Mount Fuji or desert peaks, as stunted bizarre vegetation, possibly trees, complete the visual feast.
