**ONE OF TWO WORKS BY THIS ARTIST IN MY SHOP**Pencil signed lithograph titled "Annabelle Lee", 1946, signed at lower right in pencil by noted listed artist BUELL WHITEHEAD (1919-1993). Measuring 15 1/2" by 9 1/2" framed, this was executed by a talented and increasingly sought after artist who is most closely associated with Florida and California. A monograph on him was recently published by Ron Newsom of Florida, a friend and neighbor of the artist in his later years...
Lithograph of a bull in what appears to be a stark Southwestern landscape, 12" by 13 3/4" as framed, pencil signed at lower right margin by listed WPA era American artist CHARLES EARLE MILLER (1907-) and with notation "Ed. 30" at center margin. The image is a very powerful one, similar to the work of Peter Hurd, in some ways. Miller was a painter, etcher and lithographer. I see a number of works online dated in the late 1930's and early 1940's, but after that the trail is difficult to follow...
This note, another of the many Daniel Tretiak wrote in 2015,looks at newly emerged early works of Haku Maki.
An unusual playful piece depicting an owl by one of the most important sōsaku-hang printmakers in the 20th century, Akiyama Iwao 秋山巌 (1921-2014). Best known for his prints, Akiyama Iwao produced paintings even later in his career, as well as occasionally painted on ceramics. Sake cup is sealed by the potter, but seal is obscured by glaze, and Akiyama’s signature and remains unread...

If you admire the work of Norman Rockwell, and millions do, as evidenced by spectacular auction records over $30 million, but you cannot quite afford that-----yet, would love to own something that Rockwell touched, then consider this beautiful print, (**ONE OF TWO SIMILAR PRINTS I HAVE CURRENTLY IN MY SHOP**), the title being "Springtime in Stockbridge", measuring 16 1/2" by 32". The original was painted for LOOK magazine and this poster was issued in 1971 by Cowles Communications, Inc...
A PAIR of black and white photos of Chinese families, taken no doubt in China, circa early 20th century. The photos, which measure 11" by 14 1/4" (16" by 20 1/2" in black metal strip frames behind plexi) are later 20th century reprints of the originals. The images provide a fascinating look at the people of China in the early years of the century.

Fine decorative 19th century engraving print, titled at bottom margin "Philadelphia from Belmont (WEST PARK)", by English-born artist ROBERT HINSHELWOOD (1812-1879). Hinshelwood came to the United States in 1835 as a young man and pursued his art skills, in both painting and engraving. In this case he seems to have engraved after his own original painting---a fairly rare skill combination. Hinshelwood worked for Harpers and other publications of his day, and also as an engraver for Continenta...
