Japanese limited edition color etching and aquatint titled "Le Tournoi II" (The Tournament II) by Taiwan artist Shaih Li-fa (Xie Lifa) dated 1968. Pencil-signed, titled, and numbered 3/25 in the bottom margin. Xie Lifa (b. 1938) studied drawing and sculpture in Paris in the 1960s before relocating to the U.S. in 1968 to focus on printmaking. Chromolithograph late 19th century print after a work by the noted German landscape artist THEODORE WEBER (1838-1907), the scene of the Italian coast, figures walking up a hillside road leading away from the sea, an ancient church steeple at left. The piece measures 18 3/4" by 12 1/2" inside the old mat, 28" by 21" in old gold frame, which shows its age with various chips and losses. A vintage woodcut print in black with touches of yellow and red in the windows of the picturesque seaside structures, unsigned, titled in the image "NOEL", white speckles (sprayed?) indicating snowflakes, 12 1/2" by 9 1/2" framed. The scene resembles Maine villages such as Port Clyde or Castine. Likely a work from that region, circa 1940's, possibly 1930's. I opened up the backing and found no further information.

This is an example of Haku Maki’s production of small prints that were known as San Mon Ban. These prints were usually 2in x 2in but there were instances of larger ones. This one measures 6in x 6in. Dan Tretiak writes that Haku Maki began creating San Mon Ban in early 1975, a set of seven volumes of small prints. For some he used themes from the past, others were new themes that he used again and again in succeeding years. A small rendering for collectors to add to their holdings.

A black and white poster from the Susan Spiritus Gallery of Newport Beach, California, for an exhibition held in the spring of 1983 of the works of noted American photographer HENRY GILPIN (1922-2011), the poster **hand signed** by Gilpin at bottom center. The image featured is perhaps the best known photo by Gilpin, "Highway #1", the world-famous, dramatic coastal highway hugging the Central California coast. A fine woodcut print on Japan type thin, delicate paper, 8 1/2" by 6 1/2" inside the mat, no frame, signed in pencil at lower right and dated there 1931, a monogram in the printed image at lower left, adn inscribed "To Hal" at lower left, by the well listed artist IGNATZ SAHULA-DYCKE (1900-1982). The dramatic subject is mysterious and difficult to describe: a woman, perhaps somewhat sinister or even possibly Death, comforts a young girl, as a younger boy looks on from the right lower corner. ...
