Original, very scarce (edition of 30?) unframed 1909 etching known as "Pittsburgh, no. II", signed at lower right center in pencil by the important American etcher, illustrator, critic, author and teacher JOSEPH PENNELL (1857-1926). Evidently, Pennell himself printed this particular example as "imp" is written after his name. The sheet, heavily trimmed at three sides as seen, measures 9" by 12"...

Reginald Cleveland Coxe, American, 1855-1926, "Home Again". This is an atmospheric scene of a ship coming into port, pulled by a tugboat; it is rendered with remarkabley delicate lines and a rich yet quite subtle tonal range, giving a strong sense of a soft morning fog over calm waters. The canvas sails of the ship beautifully contrast with the steam of the tug as is dissipates into the misty air. George Elbert Burr 1859-1939 American This is one of the finest etchings by American artist George Elbert Burr. The title of this work is: High Street, Oxford, circa 1900 when he and his wife spent time touring europe. A wonderful impression of a rainy night in the city. Richly inked, pencil signed and titled in the lower border. The image measures 10X12 inches. Framed.

Stephen Parrish, American, 1846-1938, etching, "Sunset, Gloucester Harbor", image size: 4 7/8 x 8 3/4 inches, 1880, cat. Schneider 40, SP number 40, first state of two, pencil signed. A beautiful, rich impression, Parrish makes excellent use of plate tone to imbue the scene with atmosphere. The second state, which has much less ink in the sky and sea, was later published in American Etchings.
