This is a landscape work by highly regarded American artist THOMAS WILLOUGHBY NASON (1889-1971). The print is signed in pencil at lower right and dated there 1937, when the artist was 48 years old, at mid-career. Nason was a Boston-born artist who by the late 1920's had taught himself the fine art of creating prints in the wood engraving process. This process was popular for illustrating books in the 19th century but by the twentieth it had fallen from favor...

A Dutch 17th century etching of a standing horse near a humble abode, 6 3/4" by 7 3/4" (14" by 15 1/2" in 20th century appropriate black frame), unsigned, and with no initials or other indication as to authorship. The work bears old pencil notations on the reverse side of the mat; there appear to be names of potential artists that were pondered by a previous observer in my position (including, it appears, question marks to himself)...

Lithograph on paper, 13 1/4" by 18" inside the mat (20" by 24 1/4" as framed), signed "J Floch" at lower left and numbered "19/50", the subject an interior with two female figures, a table and window at right. This is a beautifully drawn work, showcasing the talents of this artist in lithography. His prints and drawings (see one in my shop) are quite affordable, while paintings have brought to the $80,000 area at auction in Europe and America...

In his book Daniel Tretiak says: “Maki’s kanji prints were normally of one main color against a white or black background. Poem 71-29 below is an exception—and all the more interesting because of it. In this print, Maki has created an abstract Person—the splashes of color show the head, eyes, shoulder, and two legs.” It measures 8.75in W X 12in H and is no. 73 of an edition of 152.

This is an original pencil signed etching by British artist Sir Frank Short.  The title is: A Lane in Arundel, it was created and printed in 1907.  The image measures 8 1/8X10 inches.  A rich impression.

A PAIR of very clean French artist 19th century etchings, the subject of both upper class women, one by CHARLES WALTNER (1846-1925), the second by ERNEST JOSEPH LAURENT (1859-1929). They are also very nicely (identically) framed in tasteful black and silvery framing, including silk mat and inner fillet; the frames also in excellent condition. The combination of art and quality framing makes for a most handsome decorative addition to your traditional interior...

Etching by the British artist Sir Francis Seymour Haden measuring 5 7/8 x 8 7/8 inches, pencil signed, plate dated, 1877, cat: Schneiderman-155. Sir Francis Seymour Haden was one of the most important British etchers of the 19th century, along with his brother in law James Whistler. In addition to being a highly regarded artist he was a successful surgeon, accomplished author and dedicated angler...

MUNNINGS (1878-1959)...

This is a lithograph, titled "Heure Matinale", 19 3/4" by 25 3/4", unframed, signed in pencil at lower right by the artist and dated there "61", with "epreuve d'artiste" notation, by the noted CoBra artist GUILLAUME CORNELIS VAN BEVERLOO, best known by the pseudonym "CORNEILLE" (the French word for "crow"). The regular edition of this print appears to have been of 120 examples, on BFK Rives paper (and this has those watermarks)...

An unframed woodblock print by the hand of one of the masters of 20th century Japanese printmaking, 12 1/2" by 17 3/4" inside the existing mat (the full sheet 16 5/8" by 21 1/2", as permanently laid down on a board), signed in pencil by the artist at lower right and bearing his red seal. The image is of a major traditional multi-tiered temple, perhaps the famous one at Himeji on Honshu, shown in winter with snow on the nearby pines. Sekino was creating art before age 20...

One of a presumably limited edition of stamped legal size envelopes, HAND SIGNED BY THE ARTIST AT UPPER LEFT, issued at the Tejon Pass Station in Lebec, California on October 8, 1991, commemorating the opening (the next day at sunrise) of the famous "The Umbrellas" installation at the scenic, mountainous site 60 miles north of Los Angeles...
