This is an interesting example of a monotype, in which art is created on a piece of glass which is then pressed against paper to produce a unique image. The artist is well listed and his paintings sell well at Canadian auctions. At first glance, this work could easily pass for a watercolor; a monotype is something of a hybrid, with characteristics of prints and original art. It measures 17 3/8" by 13 1/2" inside the mat; with an additional 5 1/4" of mat and frame on a side...

This is a fine, limited edition wood engraving by the highly regarded American artist THOMAS WILLOUGHBY NASON (1889-1971). The print is signed in pencil at lower right and dated there 1956, when the artist was 67 years old. At lower left in pencil is "Ed. 100". Nason was a Boston-born artist who by the late 1920's had taught himself the fine art of creating prints in the wood engraving process...

Ruth Doris Swett 1901- Member of Southern Printmakers This is an original drypoint etching by American Southern artist Ruth Doris Swett. The title of this etching is Deer Isle Spruces, created when she was summering up in Maine. This etching is pencil signed, titled and dedicated to: Margarest Strong. The image measures 12X8 7/8 inches. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper in an edition of 50.

Albert W. Barker, American, 1874-1947, Lithograph, "Grassland", image size: 11 1/8x8 12/16", pencil signed

A very interesting etching of what appears to be Paris' Montmartre section, (the windmill a famous feature, painted by many artists), signed in pencil in the lower right margin "B. Vilard". Surprisingly I do not see a listing for an artist by this name---could possibly be a pen name.. The work measures 8 1/2" by 11" inside the mat and 13 3/4" by 16 1/4" framed. It is very clean and fresh, despite likely dating to the first half of the 20th century. Note the subtle blue/brown colors.

Max Arthur Cohn 1903-1998 British/American This is a fine original screen print by American artist Max Arthur Cohn. The title is: Night Scene, created and printed in 1944. Hand signed with pen and ink within the image lower right. The image measures 12X17 1/2 inches. "Best known as a pioneer in screenprints, Max Arthur Cohn was born to Russian immigrants in London, in 1903, and moved with his family to New York City in 1905...

Three fine engravings of Mount Vernon, Monticello, and Independence Hall, nicely mounted and framed together vertically. The framed piece measures 16 1/2" by 11". These appear to be the same images that appear on US currency, and the very high quality of the printing (intaglio?) is similar. One wonders if these have been produced by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, either as printing proofs, or perhaps as official souvenirs to be sold in a gift shop setting...

A fine etching, titled at lower left margin "The Intruder", signed in pencil at lower right margin by the noted English-born dog artist MARGUERITE KIRMSE (1885-1954). The black Scottish Terrier has discovered several fox terrier pups and is intently staring them down. Kirmse was born in Bournemouth, England, showing early talent in music and drawing animals. She stayed in the United States after what was to have been a brief vacation...

A circa 1920's to 1940's old reprint of the much-loved classic Currier and Ives lithograph "American Winter Scenes", with a horse-drawn sleigh heading towards the snug home at right in which a party appears to be held. The piece measures 23 1/2" by 30 1/2" in what I believe is a birdseye maple frame. Condition is very good, vintage condition. The original 19th century lithograph is very expensive; this reasonable alternative will provide the same decorative punch.

Original color lithograph by Jean Charlot (American, born in France). Titled "Mexican Mother" in pencil l.l. Also signed and dated in the plate l.r. and signed in pencil by the artist l.r. Jean Charlot emigrated to Mexico in 1922 where he created woodcuts and lithographs depicting the Mexican people. This work was pulled in Colorado Springs in 1948 with master printer Lawrence Barrett. Morse #520. Offered framed and archivally mounted. Image size: roughly 17" by 13".

He traveled widely in Europe and architecture, especially Gothic architecture, especially revered by the artist, was a favored subject. This print is of a Gothic style building in Princeton, New Jersey...
