A hand colored lithograph of the interior of a Damascus house showing a cistern below a very high ceiled room surrounded by arches and a relatively small doorway to the outside on the opposite side of the point of view. Men in both robes and trousers fez and keffiyeh in various attitudes occupy the foreground and a servant (?) enters near the outside door.

Daniel Tretiak tells us that in 1967 Haku Maki produced an alphabet series, Poem A-Z. He did all the letters of the English alphabet. This is Poem W, a strong rendering of the hiragana for You. Tretiak says: The image has a bold white sun in the top half with two dashes of rain-like strokes. It is in wonderful condition. The print is number 23 of an edition of 50...

Original intaglio by Wendell H. Black (American, 1919-1972), first edition, printed posthumously by Berkley Chappell (Wendell Black never issued an edition of this work in his lifetime). This print is in excellent original unframed condition.
