A nicely worked pastel drawing of cypress trees in a swamp landscape, Spanish Moss hanging down gracefully, the work signed at lower right "Sr. M. Lucy", 8" by 6" as framed, circa 1950. This is a difficult subject to draw well but the artist accomplished the chore with skill. Condition is excellent. I do not see an obvious listed artist with whom to link this. Framing is simple, work will need to be re-matted/sealed as it is currently loose under the glass.

This work is guaranteed to be an original pencil drawing, and not a print nor reproduction of any kind. The drawing (15" by 23", 20" by 26 3/4" in simple metal framing) is amazingly detailed, featuring an old time steam boat, the General Slocum, as it might have appeared in New York harbor around the turn of the century. The Brooklyn Bridge towers at right and sailing craft complete the scene at lower right. The artist signed the work at lower left and dated it 1995...

A fine Japanese ikebana basket hand-woven from bamboo, cane, cedar root, and urushi lacquer. Signed by artist Jiro Yonezawa (b.1956). Jiro Yonezawa attended the Beppu Vocational Arts Training Center in 1981 and spent a year as an apprentice to Masakazu Ono. Later on, he continued his training at the Oita Prefectural Beppu Industrial Art Research Institute. He lived and worked in the United States from 1989 to 2007. Irish artist M. C. Abigail, active 1920s, this is a illustration study possibly in watercolor gouache of two exotic birds. Signed lower right and framed in a beautiful gilded gold frame.

The strokes in this print are "U", no meaning. This is an early print using Hiragana. It is two brush strokes piercing the space, leaving a trace of itself before coming to the bottom of the paper. It has but one splash across the top and a red tear along the side and then: Whoosh it goes as in the red image at the bottom. There is one sun at the outer edge of the stroke and two moons inside the curving stroke. Not so simple after all.

A contemporary painting featuring the streets of Paris' famous Montmartre, the dome of white Sacre Coeur cathedral towering over narrow streets filled with pedestrians. The work measures 10 1/2" by 8 1/2" (12 3/4" by 10 1/2" as framed in black). The work is signed at lower right "Georges" and on reverse is written "Georges---Paris---2010/Montmartre". Condition of painting is excellent but lower left corner of frame shows some damage and there is scuffing elsewhere. Paint it black or reframe.
