Oil on canvas, this lush painting of poinsettias measures 30" x 24" (sight size), with a frame that is 3 1/2" wide. The artist is Marise London, a Florida artist from Sarasota who had an art gallery there from the late 1970's til it closed in 2006. According to the previous owner of this painting it was said to have been painted in the 80's, possibly early 90's. It is signed with the artist's first name in the lower right corner, and the full name on the stretcher...

A gouache on paper painting of a vase with white flowers, blue on white plates, green bowl with cherries, a decorative leaded window beyond, the work signed at lower right corner with what appears as "Louise Brentnall" and dated there 44 (or, I think less likely, 77). The piece measures 9 1/4" by 7" (12 3/4" by 10 3/4" in simple strip frame). I do not see an artist by this name, if I am reading the name correctly. I thought it might read "Louise Brumback", but that artist died in 1929...

An unframed oil on canvas painting of a colonial Latin American square surrounded by tile-roofed buildings, a snow-capped volcano in the center distance, signed at lower right "Quishpe" and dated there 2009. Online research shows that name to be most commonly found in Ecuador, but the artist is J. COSME QUISHPE of Cuzco, contemporary South American artist educated at the Ecole de Cuzco Contemporaine.
The work measures 11 3/4" by 15 1/2"...
Oil on canvas, 16" by 20", unframed, signed at lower right in red "SOON" and with artist's device, signed there "86", the subject a thatched roof village fronting low mountains, clothes hanging to dry in the breeze. This appear to be most likely Korean art, perhaps by a Korean-American, considering the American size stretcher. The name is common in Korea but I don't believe the artist is well known. The work is highly impressionistic and with a frame this will look even better...
Max Thorek (1880-1960) was considered one of the outstanding surgeons of all time, but he was also noted as a very talented photographer, his efforts peaking in the 1930's and 1940's when he contributed mightily to the pictorialist movement. This original photograph itself measures 9 5/8" by 12 1/2" (other measurements 12 3/4" by 14 3/4" inside the outer, modern mat, and 17 3/4" by 21 3/4" as framed)...

A fine and accomplished watercolor abstracted drawing in the Cubist style of the early 20th century, unsigned, the sheet 15" by 10", the drawing itself 6 1/2" by 4 1/4", (21" by 15 1/2" nicely framed). I did open this to inspect for a signature and found none, nor any other information as to artist. The work could have some age, or it could be of recent vintage; difficult to tell from looking at the pebbled paper. Most certainly it is a nice drawing and very decorative and attractive as it is...
Detail photo of Angel Michael pointing to the Holy Spirit (Dove). Notice the honeysuckle design on the angels armour. Refer to Flemish Painting. A new lab report confirms the color gold is real "GOLD" on canvas!! Super rare!! OVER 30 YEARS AGO, I WAS ADVISED BY MS. LUCK OF WILLIAMSBURG, VA...
A nicely executed portrait miniature, done in watercolor and gouache on organic wafer. The sitter is a fine looking gentleman with blue eyes and brown hair, attired in a black jacket, vest, and stock.
The painting was descended in the family, and the sitter has been identified as John Amory Lowell (1798 - 1881). He was the grandson of John Lowell (1743 - 1802), an American lawyer, selectman, jurist, delegate to the Congress of the Confederation, and federal judge...
A color print of the year 1930, issued by Frost and Reed of Bristol and London, titled "The Pytchley Huntsman--Frank Freeman on Pilot", after a painting by the famous English equestrian artist ALFRED JAMES MUNNINGS (1878-1959), measuring 20" by 19 3/4" inside the existing linen mat and 31" by 30 1/2" in the wood framing. The print is NOT pencil signed. Munnings is perhaps the pre-eminent painter of all things horses, at least among 20th century artists...
