Unframed oil on canvas, 54" by 35", unsigned, the work an antique (likely 18th century, possibly earlier?) copy of the great TITIAN (TIZIANO VECELLI, c.1488-1576) altarpiece "Assassination of Saint Peter Martyr", 1528-1529, of the church of SS Giovanni e Paolo, Venice, destroyed in the 19th Century. A 1691 copy by Johann Carl Loth now hangs in its place. This truly antique survivor shows its advanced age...

Very large 18th century stipple engraving of a fashionable crowd under the trees in the park with Buckingham house (later altered to become Buckingham Palace) in the background. Titled, “The Promenade in St. James Park,” it was engraved by F. D. Soiron, designed by Edward Dayes in 1790 and published by T. Gaugain in London in 1793. A PAIR of Dutch drawings on toned paper, laid on a board, each 13" by 19" plus old French matting a few inches wide, unframed, each signed at lower right "L. Verschuier 1653" in an old hand. Puzzled by the pair, I sent images to the Sotheby's New York auction house Old Master specialists. They said that the drawings were likely 18th century works for some reason bearing the signature of Lieve Pietersz Verschuier (c. 1630-1656), a 17th century important Dutch artist...

The print measures 7 1/4" by 9 1/4" (and 13 1/2" by 15 1/2" framed). The print looks decidedly antique, the paper with old crinkles, and it is simply laid against a pinkish board. The trimming of the blue ribbons provides a pop of color and wonderful contrast to the rest of the painting.
