Beautifully executed watercolor signed at lower left "DAVIES", of a male mallard in flight above a tawny field. Measurements 4 3/8" by 6 7/8" (11 3/8" by 13 1/2" as framed). I see there are a few listed Davies artists but am not sure that this is one of them. If you like wildlife and sporting art or are a member of Ducks Unlimited, you will like this little painting! .

A highly detailed nineteenth century PENCIL DRAWING, NOT A PRINT, featuring a classic turreted castle, with numerous (approximately twenty) figures completing the scene, unframed, 7" by 9 1/8". The artist signed at lower left corner "F. Pohl", and "1846" is written on the reverse. Nearby are two blue stamps that could be collector stamps. Condition is excellent, needs a frame.

Ink drawing "Wooded Road", measuring 11" by 16", unframed, circa 1930's or 1940's, signed at lower right by listed American artist ISOLDE THERESE GILBERT (1907-1986). There are two labels, discovered when the piece was opened up (frame is low quality and worn). One red-bordered label gives the artist name, work's title, and size; another, of The City Library Association, Springfield (MA) Museum of Fine Arts, again provides title/artist name...

A 17th century Wenceslas Hollar "Trinitarianus" hand coloured engraving in frame. This finely detailed etching has a sight size of 10-3/8 x 6" with a plate size of 10-1/8 x 5-5/8". It is marked "Trinitarianus 831 W. Hollar fecit" and it is plate 831. It is on laid fibrous paper and it was from the series/portfolio "The Antiquities of Warwickshire Illustrated" printed in London, England 1656 (Hollar (1607-1677) was from Prague, Bohemia...

Two works by Helen Malta of human figures, a watercolor with standing figures facing away from one another, the other with two intense faces side by side, both signed by the artist on paper. The two standing figures measure 12" x 9" and the other is 9 5/8" x 8 1/4". The standing water color also has drawn lines in red, and is signed at the bottom between the figures. the figure on the right holds a bird...

Framed and matted under glass, a vibrant watercolor featuring workers in the rice fields. Indistinct signature (Jalin 49 or Jalimus ?). Not examined out of frame. The frame measures 16" x 19-1/2".

Watercolor signed in the lower right corner H.L.B. and pencilled in on the back Harriet L. Barnecott. Nicely framed and matted under glass. The frame measures 11-1/5" x 16"

An old watercolor painting titled at lower left "Atitlan Guatemala", signed at lower right by artist "M. Moody". This may be a listed watercolor artist by the name of Marion Moody but that cannot be confirmed. The work is well handled, the old architecture and five foreground figures nicely painted. Lake Atitlan is a famous scenic lake in central Guatemala, ringed by volcanic peaks and popular with tourists to this day. The painting measures 9 3/4" by 13" (13" by 17" framed).

A very interesting etching of what appears to be Paris' Montmartre section, (the windmill a famous feature, painted by many artists), signed in pencil in the lower right margin "B. Vilard". Surprisingly I do not see a listing for an artist by this name---could possibly be a pen name.. The work measures 8 1/2" by 11" inside the mat and 13 3/4" by 16 1/4" framed. It is very clean and fresh, despite likely dating to the first half of the 20th century. Note the subtle blue/brown colors.

A vintage watercolor by an unknown amateur artist, titled at bottom "Santa Barbara Mission", unframed, measuring 14 1/2" by 11 3/4". The work on old paper would appear to date to maybe the 1930's or early 1940's at latest---think the "Route 66" era of travel in the American West (though this site is not on or near Route 66). It was likely created by or for a tourist. Note the Native Americans at center in the reflecting pool or fountain...

A framed PAIR of identically framed color prints, each 11 1/2" by 15 1/4" as framed, the subjects of both the famous bookstalls by the Seine in Paris, Notre Dame cathedral in the distance. Each is pencil numbered at lower left out of editions of 5000, and signed at lower right in pencil, by the noted French 20th century impressionist painter CHARLES BLONDIN (1913-1991)...

Watercolor on paper painting of a tree on a bluff by a sandy shore of an estuary or lake, 5 1/2" by 3 1/2" (8 1/2" by 7" in attractive gilt frame), signed at lower left by the noted French 19th century painter, GEORGES BECKER (c. 1845-1909). Becker apparently did not leave behind too many works, but those that have survived leave little doubt as to the talents he possessed...

A charming pencil on paper study of a human hand, the sheet 9 3/4" by 9", annotated at lower left "For Papa Apl. 28. 1832" and is signed at lower right "T T P dd." (Latin abbreviation commonly used in 19th century by artists---means "del delineavit" (he/she drew it) Florence". This drawing possibly by a youngster is a true survivor, coming up on two centuries of age. It is in good condition with corners glued to a backing sheet, and lower right corner is missing...

An etching of the famous chapel at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA, titled at lower left margin "The Chapel" and pencil signed at lower right by well listed California artist GEORGE DEMONT OTIS (1879-1962). Measurements are 7" by 10" inside the present mat (12" by 15" in wood frame). The artist was born in Memphis, Tennessee and was raised in the Midwest after being orphaned...

Oil on canvas painting of a traditional English cottage home adjacent to a pond where several ducks swim happily at right, signed at lower left by artist G. W. Andrews and dated there 1915. The work measures 16" by 12" and 19 1/2" by 15 1/2" framed. A figure stands on the small stone bridge overlooking the water. The painting is executed in a primitive hand but is very quaint and peaceful. Condition is excellent and stable, with no tears...
