This is a folky painting of someone's favorite St. Bernard dog, circa 1870's or 1880's (ONE OF TWO SUCH WORKS IN MY SHOP). Measuring 21" by 16" on the original very old stretchers and 12 1/2" by 12 1/2" (and 17 1/2" by 17 1/2" as framed), the painting is a sweet and classic rendition of a treasured pet of the Victorian era. Vintage dog paintings are very popular and collectable...

Oil on canvas painting of flowers in a vase in an interior space, 23 1/2" by 25 3/4", signed at lower right by German artist ROLF REGELE (1899-1987). Regele was a student of Rudolf Stolz, and he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He painted generally landscapes of the Tirol region of Austria and Italy, as well as still life. During the 1930's his paintings were often reproduced full size and on post cards...

She is wearing a crown polos which is covered by a veil that drapes along the sides and behind her head. One of a number of William Russell Flint prints in my shop, this is a fresh and clean example of the fine color photolithographs issued for collectors over a period of decades. This example, published in 1939 in an edition of 306, is signed in pencil at lower right and bears the characteristic embossed blindstamp in lower left margin. The title is "Provencale Granary". The 1939 date would place this among the earlier prints in the long series that spanned decades...

Created in the 1980s, Haku Maki did a series of rarely seen prints called Drop. They seemed to depict oil dropped onto the surface of water. Drop 7 is one of those prints. It is no. 32 of 203 and it measures 9.75in W x 11in H. As with many old prints, it has tape residue on the four edges of the back from a previous framing but there is no impact on the face of the print.

Rafael Coronel is one of the leading artist of the New Expressionism movement in Mexican Art. He studied in Mexico City and in Europe. His wife, Ruth was the daughter of Diego Rivera and Lupe Marin. Coronel has exhibited throughout Mexico as well as internationally, receiving awards in Japan, Brazil and Mexico. The Rafael Coronel Museum in the province of Zacatecas, Mexico houses his works...

Late 19th century watercolor painting of the famous Spanish Steps in Rome, an historical church forming the backdrop to a scene still iconic today. The painting is signed at lower left "Conti"; it is possible it is a work of the listed artist Tito Conti (1842-1924) but I cannot say for certain that he was the artist. The piece, which measures 12 3/4" by 8 3/4" inside the mat, and 22 1/2" by 18" as framed...

Oil on canvas painting of an extensive mountain landscape, 16" by 20", unsigned, unframed. This is a decorative work that needs a cleaning and a frame. Note how the extreme upper right edge, which had evidently been hidden under a frame, shows the true colors of the work. A regular size, framing this should not be expensive, and it's possible that a careful cleaning to remove the soiling might not have to be done by a professional.

A work by the noted California plein air artist RALPH HOLMES (1876-1963), featuring a stark arid landscape of the Southwest: a scene from Capitol Reef National Park in southern Utah (previously Capitol Reef National Monument), one of Holmes' favorite locales for painting. ***The 24" by 30" (28 1/2" by 34 1/2" in the probably original frame) painting is in need of restoration; there are numerous cuts and tears in the canvas, but it is hardly beyond recovery...

This monogram appears on the lower right corner of the Flemish painting in our listing. We read this monogram to be two connecting masonic letter "R&D". We belive this represents the painters of this painting. A new outside lab confirms the color gold on this canvas altar painting is real "GOLD"!! After reviewing the Bob Jones Gallery 400+ collection of religious art, we found no real gold on canvas paintings in their collection. GOLD ON CANVAS IS SUPER RARE!!

For the collector of early, 19th century California art, here is an east coast-style still life work, 10" by 14 1/2", unframed, signed at lower right "Bertie L Emery" and dated there 1892. The shallow dish holds oranges, grapes, a banana, and possibly slices of cake or bread, the dish resting on a white cloth, on an unseen tabletop. Interestingly for art history, Emery signs her first name as "Bertie"...
