Antique book, volume 3 (originally of a set of 3), printed in Geneva, "Histoire de Geneve", originally by Jacob Spon (1647-1685), this a later improved edition published by Fabri & Barrillot in the year 1730. Small size, 6 1/2" by 4", 672 pages. No maps or imagery. The cover is worn leather (spine) and patterned paperboard...

Here is a rare first edition published in 1825 in London by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, Brown, and Green. There are calf boards with a marbled pastedown which has some spotting both on the front and back.The textblock has darkened, the corners of the boards and a section of the spine show modest wear but the book is intact.Light foxing. 303pp. Fine condition for its age.

A first edition, second issue which includes the story Brown of Calaveras. Published in 1870 by Fields Osgood & Co. Boston. Issues: gilt lettering has faded on the boards which now appear light brown; the boards also show wear and staining, predominately on the back where the ends are worn, stained and chipped; the book is slightly cocked, there are gilt initials imprinted on brown front free endpaper, and there is light foxing. Sold as is.

"On Heroes, Hero~ Worship and the Heroic in History" written by Thomas Carlyle and published by Frederick A. Stokes (NY) in 1893. Former library copy. The end papers have stamps and there is a label and mark on the spine otherwise in acceptable condition.
