The dedication reads "To the Old Boy himself my friend John Early Best Wishes Jack Dempsey Nov 22 -22 Memphis. Tenn", all written on top of a sepia-toned photo of the champ in his boxing days...

"Geronimo in His Famous War Bonnet" Rare postmark from around the time of his captivity: "Chickasha OKLA Feb 13 1908". Slight paper loss around the edges.

A miniature size hand written in Latin manuscript page, double sided, measuring 4 1/4" by 3", and 8 1/2" by 6 1/2" nicely framed, likely of religious content. Written neatly in brown ink with red capitals in places, much as would be seen in an antiphonal sheet. Condition of this little item, a survivor at many hundreds of years old, is excellent.

Map of the South American continent, titled "Amerique Meridionale", by Felix Delamarche, 1822. The map is on old type laid paper, and measures 12 3/4" by 16 3/4". There is a distinct plate mark and a central fold. The borders of Brazil, Peru, Chile, Patagonia and French Guyana are colored in green, yellow and blue. I do not know if the map is laid down, not having opened it up, but would be happy to do so upon request...

A motorcycle & sidecar tintype circa 1905 with a historic view. This scarce, very early photograph is on a late tintype (photo on treated metal blank) and this 2-3/8 x 1-5/8" (view area) image consists of a young motorcycle rider astride the bike with a rather concerned-looking grandma in the sidecar. Three other ladies stand behind her, and there is an Edmonson's Red Seal Toffee pail in the middle of the road (road hazards were a little different in those days...)...

An unsigned albumen photograph titled in the negative in the lower left, “590. Shachem (Nablous).” The photograph depicts trees in the foreground, a crumbling square stone tower, the city of Nablus and the hills beyond. It is mounted on tan paper. The image is 6 1/8 x 8 1/8 inches (15.5 x 20.5 cm) mounted in a 10 x 13 inches (25 x 33 cm) mat.

Condition: Good with small surface imperfections and a little discoloration along the left edge.

For the history buff or specialized collector of items relating to the history of medicine, a framed photo of famed doctor WILLIAM J. MAYO (1861-1939), one of the co-founders of the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. The circa 1920 photo is inscribed at bottom margin "To Dr. E. L. Crispin with kind personal regards/W. J. Mayo". William Mayo was a son of country physician W.W. Mayo. Exposed early on to the basics of medicine, he went on to medical school in the 1880's...

Two albumen photographs, mounted on opposite sides of a single sheet taken from an album. One photograph is of a mixed group of cricket players, ladies and a dog posing under some trees. Many of the men with their bats. It is titled in ink underneath “Keevil/1881.” Image is approx. 6 1/8 x 8 ¼ inches. The second photo is of a long line of archers and spectators in front of targets, with trees behind and a few men standing forward with their bows...

The image is almost certainly a tinted salt print mounted between two pieces of glass and matted to appear similar to a daguerreotype. Most of the original paper seal is still on the glass, but where it is missing the edge of a piece of paper is visible between the pieces of glass. It is translucent when held to a strong light...

An oversize albumen photograph of the exterior of the Hagia Sophia, Istanbul by the photographer Pascal Sebah. The view is taken from outside a stone wall pierced with grilled windows. The monumental structure rises behind the wall. Pascal Sebah (1823-1886) was born in Constantinople. His photographic studio there opened in 1857...

An albumen photograph of campers on the shore of Loch Hourn with their boat anchored off-shore and misty hills on the far side of the Loch. Loch Hourn is a sea loch. The campsite looks a little messy, though the tent looks good and the four men well dressed and fed. 7 ¼ x 11 3/8 inches (18.5 x 29 cm), with a 14 x 17 inch (35.7 x 43.3 cm) mat. Attached to backboard with T mount at the top and clear photo corners at the bottom.

An albumen photograph of Lake Como and the town of Como by Giacomo Brogi (1822-1881). He was a successful photographer with shops in Florence, Rome and Naples. The business was continued by his son Carlo Brogi (1850-1925) who according to Wikimedia is responsible for photographs in the series with numbers above 8000. As this one is 9005a, it is probably Carlo’s rather than his father’s. Titled in the lower margin, “9005a. COMO – Panorame della Citta col Colfo” and in the far right, “...
