A sterling silver wine funnel in a classic Georgian design by the luxury English silversmith Asprey & Co. The upper rim is simply decorated in a beaded pattern. The strainer bottom is pierced in a starburst design. The piercing will strain out the larger sediments, and the funnel opens so a piece of muslin or a screen can be inserted to filter even the smallest sediments during decanting. The funnel is fully hallmarked by Asprey and bears the date letter for 1984.

George V covered urn. Made by Lionel Alfred Crichton in London in 1930. Girdled urn on stepped, raised, and gadrooned foot; s-scroll side handles with leaf cap and pendant flower heads. A fine Art Deco 800 silver graduated jigger in an exaggerated flaring design. The sections measure 1, 1 1/2, and 2 1/2 ounces. The bottom is stamped for 800 silver and has an Italian mark used 1935-38 that was applied to finished silver goods already in the inventories of Italian jewelers and silversmiths.

A fine silver tastevin inset with a 1772 silver 8 reales coin from the reign of Carlos III. The deeply-curved sides of the tastevin are decorated in a characteristically Spanish baroque style with ornate chasing and engraving. The handle is in the form of a curled dragon-like creature.

Though they were fashionable in France in the 19th century, coin tastevins only became stylish in Spain around 1950...

Circa 1960's-70's, this Matl jeweled cross produced by Ricardo sits on a pedestal and is a hand-wrought work of art. Ricardo Salas worked with his aunt, Matilde Poulat. After her death in 1960 he continued producing her designs, as well as his own. After 1980, Matl Salas pieces were also marked with MS-12. This cross pre-dates that mark. A set of four Birks sterling silver nut or mint dishes 1940s-50s. Measuring 5 1/4" across & weighing 156 grams this 940 sterling silver dish was designed by Taxco, Mexico designer Hector Aguilar. The dish is centered with a 1951 coin with a HIDALGO profile. The reverse side of the coin features an eagle fighting a serpent. This candy dish is pictured on p. 67 of SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO by Penny Morrill. HA, 940, TAXCO, & TALLER BORDA and eagle 9 hallmarks are found on the underside rim of the dish.

A fine vintage Art Deco style 6-3/4" step sided .800 silver wine slide or coaster. This item was used to slide bottles of wine along the table (most had wood bottoms with felt or fabric). This one is stamped A800 with an A (bee or figure) C maker's mark. This mark was used in Belgium on silver articles after 1942, we have been unable to identify the maker as yet.
