Here is a vintage (probably 1940s-50s) advertisement for an exhibition of Gustavsberg ceramics (Kage, Lindberg, Friberg) at the New York location of George Jensen on 53rd Street. Illustrated is an excellent example of Stig Lindberg's faience series. It measures 5" (12.5cm) by 5 3/8" (14cm). Mint condition.

On the underside is painted in silver Argenta, the old Gustavsberg anchor insignia, Gustavsberg, 958. Impressed is the letter S. Excellent condition. There is crazing, which is normal for the glaze.

Two beautiful and very thinly potted bowls by Sven Hofverberg in his experimental studio in south Sweden. A Danish stoneware jar by Per Linneman Schmidt for Palshus, 1960's. Cylindrical, the interior glazed in a speckled grey and brown, the exterior with a dark brown glaze, leaving some stripes and the horizontal border unglazed. Diameter "5¾/ 14,5 cm, height "3¼/ 8 cm. Incised marks Palshus, Denmark, PLS, 403 and painted D. Condition: fine.

A happily little soul evidently getting much pleasure from the clashing together two metal pot lids. She kneels with her feel tucked under, and her "cymbals" are held on high for maximum effect. Her cheeks are dimpled, her eyes are blue, and she wears a close-fitting brown bonnet, held in place under her chin by a huge pink-brown bow; her curled light brown hair can be seen at her forehead and cheeks...

Generous redware teapot by Dybdahl, Denmark, 1960’s. The inside, the spout and handle, rim and lid with a smooth transparent glaze, the rest unglazed. Impressed, stamped decoration of little masks or stylized sun faces. In the studio of Palle and Margrethe Dybdahl Margrethe did the wheel throwing and the decorations and Palle the glazes. The teapot takes 1.2 litres and pours well. Width spout to handle "10 / 26 cm. Condition: some roughness around the spout.

Nice triple relish ensemble by Axel Bruel (1900 - 1977), consisting of a trefoil-shaped centre piece with knob handle, and three plates. Decoration of vigorously painted flower sprigs in green over White, 1950's. Diameter of plates "6¾/ 17,5 cm, width of centerpiece "10¾/ 28 cm. Condition: a glaze flake to the edge of the knob, otherwise fine.

This porcelain figurine was produced in Denmark by Dahl Jensen before 1970. It has a model number 1005 on the base. It is 5 1/2 inches long, 3 inches wide and 2 3/4 inches high. The kitty is modeled in reclining pose. He has a little twitch in his tail as if he were just awakening from a nap. Now it’s time for a game or maybe a snack. Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Coffee Pot, made in "Denmark", 9 1/2" high, 6" wide with handle, hand painted vivid and crispy floral design with highlight with gold, the porcelain body is fluted vertical low relief lines on the surface. Underneath the cover is also marked with "Royal Copenhagen" mark as well as on the bottom of the pot. The condition is good, no damage or restoration.

This porcelain group was produced in Denmark by Bing & Grondahl between 1955 and 1957. The model number is 1524. It measures 3 inches high by 3 inches wide. The figure is modeled with fine detail. The fur, toes and fingers are all well defined. Their facial expressions give these little imps charm. They are hand painted in earth tones. Condition: They are in excellent, original condition with a minor glaze pit. This is mentioned for accuracy.

He wears a clown's outfit of light-blue. He sits on a barrel, evidently singing while he plays his own accompaniment on an accordion. His light-brown hair is swept back from his face in a cascade of curls which reaches his collar.

Vase by Danish manufacturer Hjorth, c 1920-30. Grey stoneware, decoration of Art Déco scroll work in “flow” copper red under beautifully crackled glaze. Probably by Hans Hjorth. The Hjorth Terracotta Factory, now part of the Bornholm museum, is still working in the same premises where it was founded in the 19th century, still using the same equipment. This porcelain monkey was produced in Denmark by Royal Copenhagen in 1964. The marking indicated this year. It is initialed by the artist Niels Nielsen. It measures 5 inches high and is 3 inches wide. The artist portrays a female monkey in a serene pose. She looks contented, sleepy and apparently pregnant. The modeling is well done and captures the character of our distant relative. She is hand painted in a naturalistic manner. Condition: Exellent first quality.

This porcelain vase was produced in Denmark by Dahl Jensen before 1970. It is 6 1/2 inches high and 5 1/4 inches wide. There are artist's initials and inventory numbers on the bottom, 104 over 396. The vase is ovoid but somewhat flattened. It has an interesting crackle glaze imitating the Chinese Satsuma style. There are stylized fruits and flowers hand painted on both sides. It is trimmed with gold, top and bottom. Condition: This handsome vase is in excellent condition.

Here is a lovely and rare red Argenta fruit platter designed by Wilhelm Kage for Gustavsberg, Sweden. It measures 7 1/2" in diameter. On the underside is stamped in gold the old Gustavsberg anchor insignia, Argenta, the model number 1003 I. The original label is partially intact (see photo). All silver intact.

This porcelain figurine was produced in Germany by Rosenthal in the 1950s. It has the artist’s signature, Fritz Heidenreich, impressed into the base. The bird measures 9 5/8 inches high and is 9 1/2 inches long. The bird is modeled with his beautiful tail feathers extended in their natural splendor. The colors are brilliant. He is wonderful to look at from any position. Heidenreich had the ability to bring this exotic bird alive in porcelain. Condition: Excellent

On the underside of one of the cups is painted Sweden 26III; on another the Gustavsberg Studio hand insignia and the painter's mark of a star. The cups are hand painted in blue, yellow and red.
