Fazzoletto (handkerchief) vase with undulating rim in red (exterior) and white (interior) glass. The technique for fusing the two colors of glass is known as incamiciato. The vase measures 3 inches (7.6 cm) tall and is 3.75 inches (9.5 cm) in diameter. Excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs. This has some minor wear to the base as expected. Black swirls on background of burnt orange glass form this letter holder from a desk set series produced by Salviati in the late 1970's. The piece stands 4 inches (10 cm) tall, 6 inches (15 cm) wide, and is 3 inches (7.6 cm) deep. There is a small, less than 1/8 inch (.3 cm), flake on the edge of the piece, but otherwise in fine condition. Circa 1975

Fazzoletto (handkerchief) vase in an unusual bicolor combination of black (dark reddish purple) glass cased in a medium blue opaque glass, giving the over all effect of a black interior with grey-blue exterior. Vase has an undulating rim rather than pulled points. There is a tiny pinhead size burst bubble (fleabite) to the rim, and two tiny areas with surface scratches. No cracks or repairs. Polished pontil with Fratelli Toso export label...

Exquisitely executed shell bowl composed of transparent blue, green and gold aventurine canne. The shell channels the colors of Venice and its sun and waters. Measuring 4.5"x5"x2"h, the piece is in excellent condition, unmarked.

One of those mid-century Murano glass shell designs inspired by the surrounding Adriatic Sea. The shell bowl is scalloped with a scroll twist that nicely modernizes the form. Green and yellow duck figural on a clear decanter in the form of a rock formation (or iceberg?. Seguso made these decanters for Luxardo in the 1960's. Height of the duck/decanter is 12 inches (30cm). Condition is very good with no chips, cracks or repairs, tiny rough spot to underside of one wing tip. Unsigned. Please note: the blue water in the deacanter was added only to take the photo, and will not be present when shipped.

The sophisticated designer arrangement of murrine in this paperweight is notable. The leaf murrine can be found in other Toso paperweights. The green center of the flower murrine is nicely tied in to the leaf motif. The murrine are cased in crystal and this lattice type layer of murrine gives the weight a nice airy quality. Measuring 3.75 dia. x 2.75"h., the paperweight is in excellent condition, unmarked.

A bowl or ashtray in black, still transparent glass. No marks, but Italian (Murano) and probably by Alfredo Barbini, 1950's. The interior iridescent in "oily" rainbow or mother-of-pearl shades so that, in combination with the lobed design, a sea-shell effect is created. The exterior also iridescent, in a metal-like shade. Width: 3 ¾"/10 cm, height: 2"/5 cm. Condition: small nick to bottom at 3 o'clock as shown in the photo, otherwise fine.

This classic Mandruzatto block vase, done in the Sommerso technique with layers of ruby in crystal glass, has 8 cut and polished facets. While a labor intensive technique, this style reveals the elegant beauty of the glass, and produces wonderful optics. Made in 1970s or 80s. It stands 6 1/2" h by 3" diameter. A beautiful Murano glass aquarium paperweight, designed probably by Alfredo Barbini around 1960. It is 7 1/4 inches (18,4 cm) wide, 5 1/4 inches (13,4 cm) high and 2 1/4 inches (5,7 cm) deep. It is in fine condition (there are some bottom usage-scratches, as might be expected). It has a faded gold label, 'Made in Italy Murano Venezia' (please see last picture).

Classic vase form in mezza filigrana using lattimo and transparent copper blue threads. The form is augmented with side applications of basilica rope in crystal with gold aventurine and a crimped crystal lip decoration with gold aventurine. Measuring 6"dia.x 9"h., the vase is in excellent condition and bears portions of its round silver foil Made in Italy label described in Leslie Pina's ITALIAN GLASS, page 15.

Documented in Leslie Pinas book "20th Century Italian Glass", pg. 174, this asymmetrical plate is constructed from gathers of crystal and opalino glass, augmented with green chips and copper aventurine which are manipulated with a tool to achieve the "starry nights" design. The loose, organic form is notable. Measuring 11.5"w x 9.5"d x 2"h, this fine piece of Murano glass is in good condition, with expected wear on the base consistent with its vintage.

Roman style design by Avem is in excellent condition, 9" tall. The vessels clear body is lightly iridized, has a scavo surface and the handles and thread at the top are aquamarine blue.

Sophisticated sommerso shell form by Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d'Arte in soft amber glass cased in crystal, with a generous interior layer of gold leaf. The shell contains a double layer of controlled bubbles which add an interesting visual texture. In Marc Heiremans' book ARCHIMEDE SEGUSO this "a canne ritorte" design is documented on page 82. The execution and finish of this fazzoletto confirm the Murano Artisans' mastery of working with Glass and would be a fine addition to any serious collection of 20th Century Murano Glass. The pontil mark on the bottom has been carved out and polished, indicating careful attention to details. The piece measures 4 1/2"H x 6" D. Condition is perfect.

Diminutive fazzoletto vase made from latticino and zanfrico canes. Measuring 4"x4"x2.75"h., the vase bears a worn but identifiable Seguso label from the mid-fifties.

This bowl is an excellent example of Murano glassblowers using the traditional technique of filigrana or latticino and applying this to a modern expression. The vessel walls are .5" - .75" thick, and the filigrana rods are imbedded in the thick walls of the form. Alternating rods contain aventurine. I have seen the exact same design with the Fratelli Toso blue foil label. Measuring 8" x 8" x 2.75"h. the bowl is in good condition, with expected wear on the base.

Flavio Poli designed 5 variations of this fine example of Modern Design for Seguso Vetri D'Arte in the 1930's. Marc Heiremans' "SEGUSO VETRI D'ARTE" documents this sculptural bowl form: Model #3434, P. 85. This beauty is done in the "pesco oro" technique, with gold foil embedded to enhance the richness of the material. Thick sculpted glass to the exterior produces a modernist form which beautifully catches light. It measures 2 1/4"H, 6"D and is in excellent condition.

This lovely vase was made in the early 1950s by Dino Martens for Aureliano Toso. Marc Heiremans documents the model #5148 and date of 1952-53 in his book DINO MARTENS, p. 163 and 190. Aventurine, champagne and opalino half filigree embrace the body of the vessel and ribbon details were applied to the lip and neck. The vase measures 5 1/2"H, 4 1/2"D. and is in good vintage condition.

Sophisticated faceted vessel's purity of form and color suggest Flavio Poli. I have seen similar types of pieces attributed to Poli. The smoke and golden interior colors are soft and appear to float. This piece is in good condition and is the essence of good modern minimalist design. Measuring 1.5"x1.5"x5"h, the form retains a worn but readable import label.

Stylized shell form by Licio Zanetti is masterfully sculpted from pure crystal. No glitz here, just pure form. The form is strong and emphasizes those visual qualities unique to glass, and demonstrates the ability of the Muranese artisans to sculpturally interpret elements from their natural environment in masterful ways. Measuring 9.5"w x 4"h x 5.5"d, signed by Licio Zanetti, the sculpture is in good condition, with normal wear at the base.

Combining the techniques of incalmo and sommerso, this Modern design by Archimede Seguso exudes warmth. This form is documented in Leslie Pinas ITALIAN GLASS pgs. 145 & 150. Measuring 7.5"dia. x 2.25"h., the vessel is in good condition, with a few minor scratches at the base, unmarked.

A beautiful Murano glass candlestick, made by Barovier & Toso, around 1950, in their gold-flecked 'Corodonato d'Oro' decor. The candlestick is 5 1/2 inches (14 cm) tall and 4 5/8 inches (11,7 cm) wide. It is without chips, cracks or repairs (there is some wax-drippings and black soot build-up, which are to be expected in a candlestick - please see pictures).

Pair of Mexican figures in clear and black glass. The clear glass figures have wide black sombrero's, long black mustaches and black arms with folded hands (similar in style to the Oriental figures by Seguso). The taller figure also shows off the toes of his black boots. The taller figure measures 11 inches (27.9 cm). The shorter figure, who appears to be kneeling, is 9.25 inches (23.5 cm) tall. Each figure bears a red and gold foil label with the words 'Murano Glass Made in Italy'...

A large Murano glass fish figurine with silver flecks and variegated color splashes, designed in the style of Dino Martens (for Aureliano Toso). The figurine is 16 1/4 inches (41,3 cm) tall and 7 1/2 inches (19 cm) wide. Except for some roughness at the bottom of the tail (probably as made), it is in fine condition. It is made in green and clear sommerso glass. Unsigned - remnants of a large yellow sticker on bottom (please see last picture).

Leslie Pina describes this piece as "Bischoff bearded collie dog in gray and white alabastro with black and white eyes, and curled tail, 1969" in her book, "ARCHIMEDE SEGUSO, LACE & STONE", P. 178. These bottles were made to hold cherry brandy (this one is empty). Liquor bottle aside, the sculptural quality of this opalino beauty is notable! This fine vessel is 11 1/2" H, 4"W, 3" D, maintains its original Bischoff label, has a nicely polished base and is in perfect condition.

A beautiful, Murano glass vase with the 'Mezza Filigrana' decor. The decor of the vase is sandwiched between a clear outer glass layer and an inner white glass layer. The glass is 3/8 inches (1 cm) thick. The heavy vase is 13 inches (33 cm) tall and 4 3/4 inches (12 cm) wide. It is without chips or cracks. There are some fabrication/annealing lines (see pictures). Unsigned. Though many Murano glass houses made vases in this technique, this vase is attributed to Barovier & Toso.
