A Chinese duan inkstone housed in a fitted carved box, most probably for a scholar. The box is carved with birds on flowering branches. The box sits on four corner mounts. The stone is carved with a poem. I believe that the box is zitan. (Note: Some of the pictures have been lightened to show the detail.)

This superb carved bamboo brush holder (or Bitong) is an early 20th century product. It is 7 ¼” high and 5 ¼” wide. It depicts the popular Chinese folk story of Fu, Lu, Shou ( 福祿壽 ). Fu, Lu and Shou are attributes of the good life. They were personified as deities in Chinese culture. Fu is carrying a young child and represents good fortune. Lu is holding a RuYi scepter and represents prosperity. Shou is holding a peach and represents longevity...

This scepter is carved from a solid piece of jadeite with the prettiest shades of mottled blues, greens and whites and has a gorgeous polish. Antique Chinese hand painted in famille verte enamels; a water pot for the scholar's desk . Low square form with feet to each corner. Depicts scenes of wise men with attendants, birds and flowers on the top and all sides . Base unglazed. No marks.

A Chinese shoushan seal carved in its natural form. On one side it shows a man riding a donkey, with another kneeling gathering items under a large tree. The reverse reveals a home in the distance. On this side, there is also a four character carved mark. This seal is carved all around using its natural colours and striations for features within the carving. The base holds the seal...

Well carved foo lion in a black stone with very heavy wear on the base showing what seems to be hundreds of years' worth of wear as well as the mid-section of the body. 算盘 - 中華民國 A Hong Mu Suanzhi Abacus (suanpan), RuYi brand, the brass plate shows an address and telephone number in Hong Kong. Not certain of where it is made. First half of the 20C as the telephone number is only 5 digits. Dimensions: 36 x 18 x 2.7

Antique Chinese archaic style Bronze seal with Foo dog from the estate of a noted archologist. Period unknown but very old. Well cast with some bronze decay. Size 1.25" sq 1.25" h .

Wonderful Chinese hardwood burl brush pot, nice striations and knots, beautiful reddish brown color, Republic Period. Size: 5 1/4" high x 4 1/2" wide.

1940s - 1950s, Chinese moss agate low slung lotus style brush washer. The moss agate shows nice markings being genuine and is a light grey/green to darker green in color. The rim has two lotus flowers and two seed pods placed around the undulating and curling top. Condition is excellent having the normal characters of this type agate, which are natural indentations. Having a very lovely shape and design, it measures 6.25" x 5.5" x .75" high.

Red and white Peking Glass Calligraphy Brush with horsehair from the mid 20th century. Irises and bats decorate the handle. It measures 10" long.
