A Chinese duan inkstone housed in a fitted carved box, most probably for a scholar. The box is carved with birds on flowering branches. The box sits on four corner mounts. The stone is carved with a poem. I believe that the box is zitan. (Note: Some of the pictures have been lightened to show the detail.)

Early Chinese Han style carved stone Duck figure, the duck possibly Han period is carved from a soft stone and and came from a collector of ancient jade. No damage and very well carved. This did come from a home of a heavy smoker we did not want to clean any of the pieces and let the buyer decide no smell but tar . Size 3.25" by 3.5"

A republic or Qing dynasty style brushwasher, globular body and unglazed base, possibly products of 1920s or earlier. Brush washer is in good condition no chip. no crack, no restoration except some scratches. It is scholar table object de art, nice collection piece in any chinese or japanese art collection. Old Chinese scholar’s rock in a shape of a natural boulder perfectly resembling a huge monolith with layered structure. Gives wonderful impression of immense energy of the mountain, presents great views from all sides. Beautiful stone with incredible wealth of textures and colors. Very strong scholar’s object, excellent patina on the surface of the stone, fitted rosewood stand. Height with stand 4 5/8 inches.

A Chinese shoushan seal carved in its natural form. On one side it shows a man riding a donkey, with another kneeling gathering items under a large tree. The reverse reveals a home in the distance. On this side, there is also a four character carved mark. This seal is carved all around using its natural colours and striations for features within the carving. The base holds the seal...

Late Qing Dynasty to Republic period (1900s to 1930s) Chinese porcelain covered round box for seal paste with underglaze blue painting of a phoenix in flight among wispy clouds. Excellent quality freehand painting with beautiful washes, in superb condition, was never used, I guess. Four seal style character mark on the bottom. Very quiet subtle piece for scholar’s desk. Diameter 2 1/2 inches.

Chinese Tang Style Black Jade? recumbent foo dog Lion scholar object possibly a scroll weight. Well carved foo lion in a black stone with very heavy wear on the base showing what seems to be hundreds of years' worth of wear as well as the mid-section of the body. Export seal on head. this came from the estate of a noted archologist. Size l 3.25" w 2" h 1.6"
